Hi
I’m completely new to this stuff & don’t really have a clue where to start or exactly what to do!
So, here is my ‘tale’.
Most of my direct debits come out on the 1st of each month & the total comes to about £1500.
The other month I received a letter from my bank (Lloyds TSB) to say that they had tried to take out all of the direct debits on the 1st but it would have meant going over my agreed limit by £11.09. There were seven direct debits in total. Despite funds being available for £1,500, all seven direct debits were ‘referred’!
FUNDS were available to pay for at least 6 of these BUT because the collective total came to £11.09p over our agreed limit, they cancelled ALL seven!
They charged me £210 for the deferred direct debits, (£30 for each DD) £30 for their poxy letter telling me this! To cap it …I was charged about a further £110 from the company’s who had their DD’s referred.
I wrote to them to complain & have only received a pre-printed “sorry ...We will look into this within two weeks”
Sorry …but I’m £320 quid out of pocket because of £11.09
Any advice?

The start point is Martin's article here...

If you don't think you have had other charges in the past you could just start with the 1st letter listing the charges you have just received but if you think you have had other charges in the past then start at stage 1.0 -

BTW .....I posted a decent post about how I got ripped off by Lloyds TSB and you moved it!
I was only looking for advice.

This is a very busy board with new questions appearing constantly. Each time a thread is posted concerning an individual bank, it is moved onto that banks thread. There are two main reasons for keeping a banks questions in one thread. You may already find the answer you are looking for concerning that bank in the thread, and by keeping all a banks posts together. It can help future new members quickly and easily see the problems/advice posted concerning that bank.
The advice you were given was spot on. If you want to claim these charges back (and you have every right to). Follow the advice in Martins article. If you follow the advice carefully, you stand a very good chance of getting every one of these charges back.
I know you may feel frustrated by what has happened, but your situation is not unique. Others have posted worse cases than yours in situations along the same lines. Martins advice is very clear on this. Don't let the bank get away with it, reclaim your charges.

Has anyone been successful in getting money back from TSB? I'm must admit to getting scared now as they've defended the claim and i've got the court allocation questionnaire to complete.
Do I actually have to go to court or can the case be heard without me being there?
Has anyone else got to this stage?0 -

If you read through some of the posts, you will see plenty of people have got this stage. Many banks file a defence, don't worry, it's unlikely you will end up in courtroom.0
