  • I wrote to Loyds tsb around 4 weeks ago requesting charges for the last 4 years together with a cheque for £10 to cover their costs. I have received two letters saying how sorry they are that they have not been able to get around to my complaint and now say they will either come up with information in the next 4 weeks or advise me as to when I can expect this information. the claim I expect to be in the region of around 4k. - what are the legalities in terms of timescale for them to supply the information on overcharges? Is it 40 days or does the 40 days refer to them advising me as to when I can expect this info?

Id be soooo grateful for ay info?

    cheers

Hiya, I sent the first letter to lloyds and they just fobbed me off. Sent letter 2 and recieved no reply after over a month so started to claim process (paid £80.00) at 12.00am yesterday (22/01/06). At 2.00pm the same day I recieved a letter from lloyds offering me £600 plus they would waive my next charges of £195. So all together I got £800 - I was claiming £1000. They said the money would be in my account in a couple of days. I cant beleive I started the process and paid £80.00 only to reciev a letter 14 hours later!! So my advice is to not be to hasty starting the court proccess - be patient and with a bit of luck they should give you an offer. Also, they haven't closed my account yet and have not mentioned doing so, so fingers crossed! Also if this has happened to anyone else I would like to know how long it took for the money to go through. The letter is dated the 20th and I recieved it on the 22nd, they said 'a few days' so am just waiting. xxx

why don't you accept the offer as part payment and carry on? you have already paid the court fees and plus you'd get the interest as well if you continue....thats what i would do but its your decision

congrats on getting something out of the robbing scoundrels:T

  • Hi Nel,

will accept it as they said it will just go into account (don't need 2 sign anything) will also probably continue with claim - might as well seeing as i've paid for it. Dont suppose you know how long it will take to go in do you?

    Thanks for your help already,

Very interesting read , one proof that you should stick to your guns. Only thing that is worrying me is that I've only sent the initial letter on 22/02/07 by now surely the banks must have come up with a new tactical ploy to get out of these payments. There are no posts about what the banks are doing about the situation, are they continuing to payout despite trying to get out of it or are they looking into where they stand legally and try to make amendments.
  • While the statement I received from Natwest is clear and complete, the one I received from LLoyds TSB has arrived and is split into 2 - the first section holds actual statements while the second lot are summaries. They've also failed to provide 6 months of statements from 1st sept 2001.

Has anyone else had these mixed statements? Should I write back and ask for full complete ones?

I have received an ex gratia payment of £750 into my bank account today. I am claiming for £985 plus £235 interest plus £80 court cost. I have just phoned the court, told them I have received part payment but I want to persue them for the balance. He said I need do nothing more now, once the time is up (11th March) I can issue a judgement for non payment.

Is this what anyone else who has received part payment has done? If they had offered this prior to court I would have accepted, now I have paid the court fee and am entitled to interest plus they have wasted my time I want the whole lot!

help! i have a standing order set up to go from my sole account into a joint account and it goes out for the same amount each month - going from lloyds account to another. In december i decided to do a transfer from my sole account to my joint account so i could work out what money i had left for the month. I forgot to amend the date of the next standing order (human error!) so the next thing i know i rec'd a letter from lloyds saying that they had been unable pay out a standing order due to "insufficient funds" - then I realised I hadn't changed the date so they had tried to pay out my standing order from my sole a/c to my joint a/c. I called Lloyds straight away and told them it was human error but surely they didn't have to charge me £35 - i was advised to write to my bank mgr - which I did. I wrote a very nice letter explaining what had happened and if he would refund the charges as it was human error and the money was going from one lloyds a/c to another - it was a really polite letter and gave them all the details and now they have just written back with what looks like a standard letter and said No as their charges are fair etc. Letter did say i have until 7th april to reply and if they haven't heard from me by then they will close my file or if i am not happy they will help me refer my complaint to the financial ombudsman -i dont want them to get away with it as it only cost them the price of a 1st class stamp! but i don't know what to do now? any ideas?
  • Still nowt from the TSB.
They put in a defense on the 12th Jan, I complete the court questionnaire and sent of my £100 payment...which has since been cashed, and I have since heard nothing at all.
My mate sent his claim for £3500 off to Nat West last Monday...got £2750 this morning !!!!!

Do I just keep waiting?

  • Has anyone had any problems claiming against the Yorkshire Bank??

I can only see results from the bigger banks like HSBC and Barclays etc...

This bank has been an absolute nightmare and charge and charge and even after discussing changing the type of account i have with them they still keep me on the same rates and charges.

I would just like to know if anyone else has experienced bad things with this bank.

    Cheers
