hi all just got all my charges printed out and ready to send my first letter off.i know i need to send to my branch who will forward it to the relevant dept. but who do i send it to at my local branch i guess probably the manager help!

Your local branch is fine, they will forward it onto the relevent department. Make sure you send it recorded/registered delivery so they have to sign for the letter (this proves they received it).

also ive opened new bank account but wondering wheteher lloyds will actually shut my account down as i dont owe them anythin ie no overdraft or loan credit cards etc

Some banks do, and some don't close accounts after reclaiming. There is no set rule to it.

Currently, if you stick with it and dont settle early for a lower offer. The banks are settling in 99.9% of claims. You stand an excellent chance of getting all the money.

Hi all, advice would be greatly appreciated....
TSB have sent me a very polite letter telling me they aren't going to give me my charges back. I know the next step is to take them to CC but the account is a joint with OH and we both want to reclaim charges on our personal accounts plus an old joint account.
So, if we wait until we've got list of charges for all accounts and they've all been refused (which seems very likely) can we go to CC with all accounts in one go - I simply cannot afford fees for each account if I have to go to court.
  • Hi, I have recieved a letter back fom Lloyds tsbs stating they were clear in letting customers know charges there fore legitimate charges. If i want to persue this they would help me get in touch with the financial ombudsman, should i persue it?

    Thanks

You would each have to issue a court claim for your own accounts, and one of your can claim for the joint account. Keep the claim to under £5000 before interest for it to qualify for the small claims track.

This is a standard reply to try to put you off. Press ahead with your own timetable, and stick to the steps laid out in Martins article.

    Hi all

I recently put a claim in for £3000. I wrote the first letter like the template on this site and Lloydstsb sent me out the standard default letter telling me to go away.

I wrote to them again saying I was not happy with this and that i am taking tehm to court. I wrote this on the 4th of Jan.

Yesterday I recieved a letter saying they would not Pay me my full money back but at a good will gesture they have paid £700 into my account!

This is very nice of them as I was not expecting that. But I am still going to court to claim the full £3000.

I am quite happy now because they have given me the ammunition to move onto the small claims court stage. AND they have given me the money up front to pay for the fee.

I will keep everyone up to date with whats going on.
