I had a bank account with Lloyds that was closed about a year ago. Would I still be able to get my statements and do this?0

Hi all
This is my first post, so apologies if its in the wrong place. However I'm ready to explode!!!
My girlfriend and I decided that I should try and get some of the bank charges dispensed by LTSB over the last 6 years back. So we sent off the template letter plus the £10 cheque and within the time limit we were given only FIVE years worth of charges. After calculating how much they owed me, a whopping £12,278.66 without interest!!! In one instance they charged £480 in charges, that was just one day!!
I've been self employed for a long time and a very loyal customer to LTSB with an impecable credit history. However due to one thing and another I had some financial difficulties and although I asked the bank for help/assistance etc I got naff all except a load of charges. As a result I have been in a constant struggle financially, it spiralled out of control, I almost ruined a very good business and my credit is in tatters. I've found that LTSB just compound the problem with their charges and Its been very soul destroying! It has only been with the help of my girlfriend over the last 2 years that I've got my nose just above the water.
That said, we got to work and sent off 2 of the 2nd template letters, as I have 2 accounts (1 x business and 1 x private - Classic) and split the total up accordingly.
Received on 20th Jan 07 was a standard letter from a lovely lady  from Customer Service Recovery Centre, Andover, basically saying
'we at Lloyds TSB don't wanna pay ya!!' well something like that.
We are now in the process of getting the court action letters together to claim the total PLUS interest and will send those on Monday 28th Jan 07.
Watch this space
I would like to say that this forum has been immensly helpful and thank you to everyone who posts advice and general experiences with this kind of thing, its nice to know you are not alone. It is plainly obvious that we are not all irresponsible but the banks just seem to kick us when we're down and then again for good measure.
A MASSIVE THANKS to Martin too for giving the unheard a voice to speak out, I think its great :A :T :j0 -

Good luck to you mate.
So far I am a happy customer and recieved £700 of the £3000 claimed.
You WILL get you money back, just takes time.
:T :T :T0 -
After the offer of £750 I replied to say I will accept this as part payment, thank you very much, but will try and get the remainder of my £2500 back.
I have paid the £100 to the Nottingham County Court and completed the questionnaire sent to me. LloydsTSB are putting in a defence.
The cheque was cashed last Wednesday.
What do I do now? Just sit and wait?0 -
Hi
Today I just received a letter from Lloyds bank saying I was overdrawn by £2.40, what I had done was transfer all my money over to my HSBC account with the intention of closing the Lloyds one later, well what I stupidly had done last week was paid for a small item on ebay via paypal and forgot to change the payment from the default account, so I went into the branch and paid in £2.50, the letter did mention I will be charged (somewhere in the region of £30!) but I did not mention this to the clerk, I just handed her the letter and said I want to pay in £2.50 to cover this, she processed it and that was that.
I checked in my online banking and i'm now £0.10 in credit, my question is does this mean I have not been charged or can they still charge me later on?.
Any advice appreciated, really dont want to pay out £30 just for the sun of £2.40!.
Thanks0 -

If you received a letter, it's likely you will be charged. Usually a date is specified when the amount will be taken. If that takes you overdrawn again, you are likely to be charged another £30.
The easiest way, is to either go into the branch or phone the bank and ask them politely to waive/refund the charge on this occassion.
If this doesn't work, you may need to get a bit heavier with them and write a letter.
If you wish, after you have followed the process, and if they still don't play ball, you can file a court claim and force them to refund the charge.
However, as it's a relatively small amount, it's likely they will pay up much sooner.0 -
Hello all,
I would appreciate some advice on my claim.
I have two separate claims with Lloyds TSB. One on my account, one on a joint account. Both claims were started within days of each other on separate letters.
Following the steps one account (mine) was issued at court on 29/12/06 the other (joint) on 2/1/07. These have since been acknowledged and a defence entered today for both.
Joint a/c claim was £480 plus £50 court fees. (I did not add interest)
My a/c claim was £586 plus £80 court fees.
The defence prompted me to check my a/c and start preparing for the next stages. However I was surprised to see that back on 4 Jan 07 I had CSRC Charge Refund paid into my (not joint) account of £618.
I received no letter about this and this date suggests it was in the in-between period between issuing and serving the court claim.
Does anyone know what the £618 represents? Its obviously more than the claim of £586 regarding the account the money was refunded too. Is it likely to be a partial offer of £618 for both (separate) claims totalling £1066?
The defence states they are disputing whole amount.
I wonder if anyone has had similar cases? Surely they would not return some money to one account as an offer for both separate claims?
Thank you in advance for any advice on how I should proceed. I am nervous as the court form says I must inform court immediately of any monies received from the defendant. But I don’t know which claim the monies refers to?0 -
You need to ask the bank what this payment is for. They can tell you exactly what this payment is for. We can only guess. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
