You need to reply saying you will accept the amount given in partial payment of your claim and will now proceed to court action for the rest.

Which bank is it, anyway?
and please use the templates, don't go adding other questions in, the templates work, just adjust the the wording to say you accept the money in partial payment.

Darn right it's a lot of money - I've just sent Abbey a letter asking for a whopping £6400, I'll reduce it to £5k if I have to go further so it stays in the small claims track, but I want it all. I need new double glazing!!!

I'm not sure what to write to be honest, I've been using this page: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,#step4
..for templates on what to write, but how would I word a letter saying, thanks for the 750, but im not happy with that, you have 14 days..?0 -
Use this section for the template
If your enquiry was rejected, deemed invalid or you didn't receive a response, write to inform it that you’ll be taking court action if it doesn’t settle. In many ways this is a repeat of step three, but in more militant fashion. Include a strict limit of the time you give it to respond. Some people skip this step, but it’s often worth a shot, as if it works it saves actually having to start the court process. To help use this: Sample Letter Template (without claiming interest)
Sample Letter Template (with claiming interest)
(Right click on either of these and save the file)0 -
Did you send your letter by recorded delivery? If you did and you can proove that they received the original letter I wouldn't start again I'd send them the second letter.0
