i say let them have it. of course there going to say no. but did they think of that when they took it from you or would they have left it in your bank account if you had said no. not on your nelly. we have a claim with lloyds at the moment & we still havnt had any letter from them after sending the first two letters. we only have 8 days left for them to put in a defence.

They'll issue a Full Defence on the last day as sure as eggs is eggs. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
If you gave them until 9th then wait until then. It's only a few days and you'll want to look reasonable.0

It took over the 40 days to get the bank statements from the Yorkshire Bank, and it has taken me 3 afternoons to work out that we have paid over £3600 in bank charges over the last 6 years. I know we were dozy and disracted with a young family, but this experience has left me furious.
The number of times we were slapped with £50 + charges for just going a couple of quid over drawn; and the number of times the £20 charge for the previous month's overdraft tipped us over the limit in the following month, is unreal. They were absolutely ruthless in taking money from us - I can remember leaving the branch in tears on many occasions.
Now we have resolved to be as ruthless in claiming it back. Thank you moneysavingexpert, for making us realise that we didn't have to put up with this any longer - and showing us how to reclaim our money. :T:j Capital One: Claimed back £267.48 interest Received back EVERYTHING
Yorkshire Bank Visa: Claiming £163.84 Received back EVERYTHING
Yorkshire Bank Current Account: £4500 - Recieved back everything.
Money saved so far: £100+ on train tickets; £100+ on a washing machine; £52 on travel insurance. £20 a month on shopping delivery; £100 on car insurance...
...Thanks Martin! You deserve a Knighthood! :money:0 -
hi not sure if i am in the right place
i bank with lloyds tsb and on 2/4/2007,got charged £ 60 for going over drawn £7.13.anyway I am on income support etc.full time carer to a disabled son,i know that banks are not allowed to take means tested benefits, when my is come in it would just go back to the bank and i would not get a penny of it,my questioon is are they allowed to do this.cause lloys said that they are not actually taking it out of my is,as the charges did not directly come out of my income support,i am very stressed, cause this would mean that i can not eat, take my son to his physio etc,is there anything i could do,and are is that true what the person from lloyds tsb said.0 -

Hi all very helpful info have just sat and read the last 12 pages, but still have a few questions if anyone can help......
My husband sent the original letter with £10 asking for statements for the last 6 years, but he put the bank account number on it and asked for the "bank charges and any other related credit card charges relating to the account", because he has 2 credit cards with this bank and we wanted to claim for all 3 accounts. He did not include the credit card numbers.
we have since received the bank statement's only, and have proceed with 1st letter for £807.50 plus interest, going to send 2nd letter tomorrow.
1. Was he correct in doing this or does he have to write to a different department for credit card charges?
2. If he was correct, they owe us the statements, how do we proceed with getting the copies?
3. Say they do settle claim, as under £1000, the account is closed, how do they pay you??
not bank charge related
4. Also since receiving the Statements we have discovered the bank over the period of a year have paid over £400, to MANCHESTER OSC EM, that was done without my husbands consent, after he had stopped using the account and was unsuccessfully trying to get it in the black, by going through the CCCS. We have spoke to the bank and been told we have to go to the local branch to find out who the payments where to, does anyone know our rights on getting money back as was given without consent????
5. Lastly, even though he had the CCCS set up an agreed payment, they still continued to charge him each month, unknown to him, as he had stopped receiving statements by then!!!!, but suddenly in Jan 04 they closed the account, by then was £552.36 OD, 90% charges, by TFR to CDR??? anyone know what this means???...... where to debt went.?????......
I just find what the bank has done, to be awful, they were still charging him £5 fee per month, just to keep account open and continue to charge him, as he wasn't even using account, they add to £120!!!!
Any help to any of the above questions would be appreciated......:TReclaimed thanks to this site: £2596.71

MONEYCLAIM DONE - thought about giving them until 9th however they stated in letter that it was final and if no refund would be giving therefore i take that as a NO so if that is case then court it is. probably looked at my account and thought no fund there so how will she pay £120.00 - bet they didnt bank on my generous parents
im actually excited rather than scared - for years Tsb said "nothing we can do" when i rang up in tears ref - charges - revenge is sweet i say
ironically in there letter they go on about how there alwas there to help and how there fair etc - hilarious - think this letter is the type that people who havent been on this web page will read and think - nothing more i can do about it0 -
