i have just had a letter they are having none of it saying i got these charges for going over my overdraft limit so these are not default charges..??
i hope i am right i have just claimed via MCOL... GOD I AM WORRIED...any advice please..0 -
Im no expert and can only go by what i have read on this site. But i think if you have followed all of the advice and used the template letters you have got nothing to worry about.
The letter you got is the same as many others have recieved and is just one of their general fob off letters trying to get you running scared!
Just stand firm and carry on regardless.
Good Luck:rotfl:0 -
I've got as far as getting the statements off Yorkshire Bank but these seem to be the hardest of them all with which to claim money off.
I've not even bothered to work out how to work out how much they owe me as I dare not face the courts so I've fed them into the shredder.
I hope and wish you all well though in your claims and hope you have more guts than I do
I can't believe your giving up - please reconsider??? If you need help and support we're all here for you!
I sent 1 letter off to Barclays on 5th March and received full amount yesterday!!! All for the cost of a 1st class stamp!!!
PLEASE RECONSIDER!!!!0 -
Sent my letter on 20th march and got a letter this morning they'd be here in 40 days but then had another envelope from them which had statements all the statements in, but if i where you i'd only give them 40 days. Like you said they never hang about when it comes to taking the money and i'd bet they cashed the cheque straight away.0

Hiya -
PLEASE don't give up - it's taken me 8 months to get my act together but I finally submitted my claim via MCOL online today against Natwest who can be very intimidating (or am I just a bit of a wuss!) ANYWAY - it is boring, it seems like a huge task but it's not and it so rarely goes to court that it is very very very worth chancing it. Just bite the bullet, use all the advice and support off this site and consumeractiongroup.co.uk and there is SO much support you can get as we're all up in arms about being so ripped off for so long! I am hoping for over £3k back once interest and costs are factored in. That will pay of one of my overdrafts just like that!
thanks for all the support and advice from both Martin, MSEers and Consumer Action Group!!
x Claire :j£3k back from Natwest:beer:, approx 29% saved on major debts due to Martin's tarting advice and LOTS more (inc weight loss too! ... Martin's a Marvel:j Long healthy good life, great times, and happiness :rotfl: x0 -

I am with the same bank as you and am still waiting for my statements, pleases request your statements again, you say your scared of the court part of it all, you aint the only one, I cant wait to see how much they owe me, i can safely say it will be thousands and believe me if I can do it anyone can,the only thing I am sure about is if it wasnt for this site I wouldnt be trying. So go on give it a go lets face it its unlawful what they have been doing. there is allways someone on this site to offer you support every step of the way, so go on take a deep breath and start again you wont regret it.0 -
Hi guys! First post from me, but ive been a visitor to this site for a good few months now!
First off, Lloyds hammered me a few years ago for charges..
They totalled £2757.04 - Its NOTHING to what some of you guys have claimed, but its MY money so i wanted it back!
My mum told me about this site, and i started reading about getting charges back..
At the start of this year, me and my business partner started a new business, and this gave me more time.. so i finally added up my charges and sent the first letter off!
I got a reply from them basically saying " the charges are lawful, we are a business - go screw yourself"
So, i sent them a second letter (using templates from this site) and awaited a responce..
I didnt hear anything for ages, and went into my branch to see if i could get some recent charges reversed as they were TOTALLY unfair..
They told me something was pending on my account, and that i was to hang fire cos a load of charges had already been wiped..
Confused, i tried contacting various departments in regards the current status of my account..
Using the internet, and my brain, i got this number : 01264 832 297
THat is (or at least was) a direct number to the department in anover or wherever it is.. and i spoke to someone there about what was happeneing with my account.
What they did, was pay 350 quid into one of my accounts, and 350 into another, as a GOGW (Gesture of good will) and they wiped about £90 worth of pending charges too..
They didnt ask me, or say they were gonna do it.. they just did it...
I got a letter a few days after the money was paid in sayign that this was the end of this matter etc etc.
I used part of the money to raise a claim online, asking for £2057.04 plus £120 court fees as they had (against my will) paid a sum of money in ym account already and not given me the full amount
I didnt accept the deposit, they just gave it me, thats not gonna count as an "offer" that i have accpeted? and the courts not gonna tell me to F.O are they?
The online money claim thing has now in a "Defence" status?
Unlawful Bank Charges
Defence
You are unable to take any further action online on this claim.
The Defendant disputes the whole amount you have claimed. Your claim cannot proceed online and will be transferred to the appropriate court for continuation. You will receive confirmation to where the claim has been transferred to shortly.
Shall i just wait?
Or have i shot myself in the foot?
From what ive read, i should hold on as they are using scare tactics.. but its scary to think a huge company like LLoyds tsb are getting their defence against me ready!
Thanks guys!
Everyone on here combined are helping people all over the country get back money that is rightly theirs!
