I wrote to Lloyds TSB a week ago about reclaiming my bank charges with details of my bank charges over the last 6 years. I sent it to Costumer Services. Not sure if I have sent it to the wrong address as this morning I recieved a letter from them saying 'We expect our enquiries to be completed within the next 4 weeks, but we will try to get our response to you sooner if we can'. They also attached a letter called 'voicing your concern'. The letter was signed Customer Services Recovery.

Is 4 weeks a resonable time to wait or is this them using delayed tactics? Should I not have sent the letter to Costumer Services, do I need to contact my local branch?

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thank you.
  • Sent 14 day letter from BBC website on 28 February - reply from Lloyds TSB 16 march seeks £10 for transactions - i already have this - they are saying new OFT guidelines are about default charges which does not apply to my account and their charges are fair - suggest if i remain unhappy contact financial ombudsman - any suggestions as to how i should now respond? can you only claim back 5 years in scotland?

Hi I just wanted to reply to your message cause it caught my eye that it was Llyods TSB!! I'm in the process of claiming charges from them total of £1366 plus £120 court fee, I had a letter a week after going through the online money claim, which I received today offering me £750, I wasn't overjoyed with the offer to be honest although I suppose I should be grateful I had an offer at all from them!!!! Again in their letter they say the charges are FAIR and you should be able to check your account blah blah blah i'm just wondering what to do now, accept their offer or go all the way??? Although i'm not sure what will happen or what i have to do if i don't accept the offer??? What is the process through the courts???Sorry i haven't offered you any advice but from what i've been reading Llyods seem to be one of the worst for claiming bank charges!!! Suzy

Can any one help please. I recieved a letter from Lloyds TSB stating that they are very sorry to hear that I have made a complaint, if I do not answer thier letter within 14 days they will assume that I am happy. I;m not, they have since closed my account and I still have not had 6 years of bank statements from them as asked in my letter to them a month ago, I paid my £10.00 for them to send me my statements. What do I do now, there is not a letter that I can download asking what has happened to my statements etc. I am so confused and outraged that they close my account without even going any further with me.
    look forward to your help
    Nadine

Standard letter from the bank, just send out your letter before action on the 15 day if you have not had a satisfactory response.

Standard procedure from Lloyds depositing a goodwill gesture. Write to the bank and say you will accept this in partial payment and without prejudice but your claim will be continuing. They will offer the remainder before it goes much further.

I'm glad i was browsing, you've given me the advice i was looking for so thankyou:T I had a letter from llyods tsb today saying that they were prepared to reduce the charges by repaying me £750 which will be credited to my account in next few days, my claim was for £1366 plus £120 court fees, i wasn't sure what to do?? Should I continue with claim for full amount or just accept what they'd offered?? Having read your response to a question thats what i will do write a letter thanking them for there 'Goodwill Gesture' and continue with claim.....Watch this space fingers crossed suzy

As I understand it the BBC website just has the one letter whereas Martin recommends two. Please read Martin's article and you'll find there are two letters, first one your initial claim and the second is a letter before action stating you will take them to court now.

You now need to decide which way you are going. If you are going straight to court then yes, in Scotland you can only claim for 5 years and the limit for claiming in the small claims is much lower.

Have a read of the Reclaiming in Scotland thread and check out the links in there for other websites regarding claiming.

OK im at the last stages now

Calculated my charges on line by searching as i didnt want to wait 40 days :D

Sent off my 1st letter - Ignored

sent of my 2nd letter 14 days later - ignored

logged a claim with money claim - the end date is 11th april and i havent been contacted yet!!!

My advice to ANYONE is ignore anything that isnt full payment (or partial payment if thats what your happy with) no matter what stick to your time scales and just proceed with the letters - ill let you know how april the 11th goes!!
  • Hi
We have got as far as starting Court proceedings against Lloyds. Yesterday we received a letter informing us that the claim has been served on Lloyds. Lloyds have then ticked that they intend to defend all of this claim, with details of the Solicitors who are representing them.

We are wondering if this is just a standard reply, to encourage you to settle, or if we wait the 28 days to see if they do file a fefence. Has anyone else had the same type of letter and can give any advice.

    Cheers
