Hi All,
I am new to this Forum and want some advise on what to do next, I sent my first letter to my bank (Lloyds TSB) some 2 week ago, but have heard nothing back at all from them, have they even received my letter, or are they just ignoring it and hoping that it will go away, I am not going to let them get away with repaying me my Money (around £1500.00) Is there a template of a letter that I should send in just to give them a little jolt?
Thank-You in advance.

hi
are going to try and get charges back from lloyds and need help, I have on line banking and have checked my statements (max 5years) to be £788
my question is shall I go with that figure and add another £100 for the six years, or request statements.
The thought behind asking for £788 +£100 would be to let them work out the charges and see what they come up with.
advise please have been putting this off for ages0 -

It is advisable to send the letter by recorded delivery or take it into your local branch and ask for a receipt. Both of these will give you proof that they have received the letter.
If you have no proof of delivery then it might be an idea to resend the first letter using one of the methods above, it could be that the bank are delaying things but you really don't know.

Good morning, i have recently been offered the standard 750 off lloyds and have still not recieved it, is this a new ploy to delay? i have tried ringing but its still engaged (as it always is) they posted this offer on the 5th march, what do i do? I am still going to file with mcol for the balance owed but do i include this 750 or not.0

Greg,
Thanks for the reply, I have telephoned my Bank to ask if they recieved my letter and the response was "I can't answer that question for you as all the post gets bagged up before being opened and sent to HQ, we are recieving a lot of letters with regard to bank charges, and cannot tell you if yours is one of them"
Now do I send another letter in, (hand delivered this time) or sit and wait for 1 week to see if they acknowledge the first one, and if I do send in another letter should I not send a cheque the £10.00 fee again.....
I may sound impatient but the way my luck is going, the banks will knock paying back charges on the head before I can claim mine back.
Thanks.

I was advised that you can now ask for the last 6 years charges in the branch or over the telephone which may be a better option0 -
Hi to all - I am very slow at picking new things up and I have several health problems including Dyslexia; so apologies for spelling and grammar mistakes; I tried to find the posting I left on site yesterday; no way can I find it!
This site seems terrific and I am sure I will get there in the end; but has anyone got information on the following. I have started my claim against the Yorkshire bank yet they are still charging me £8.00 per day and they have sent me several very nice letters informing me of this; also I note that the letters are sent from my local branch and I have been sending all correspondence to their ‘Advice quality unit’ ‘Charges section’
While I realise that this may be to put me under further pressure I would like to hear from anyone who is I a similar position.
Your site is great
Many thanks to all.

Yorkshire Bank is the same advice quality unit charges section as Clydesdale bank and on clydesdale thread I have posted their telephone number for all to see - so you have it here its 0113 231 5010 - they said they were snowed under when I phoned but to-day I have had half my charges refunded by cheque but no interest - so letter going tomorrow saying thank you for half but no thanks!
Following on from my post on 7th March. I rang the bank after 42 days and said they had not complied and when could I expect a response. The answer I got was, that they were not dealing with it directly and had passed it on to another department who were busy and that if I wanted to take it further I could.
So Thanks susank!! What a helpful man who answered this phone he had a right go about my branch (who have refused to even take my call) and said that if I ring tomorrow morning with my reference numbers he will make sure it is sorted by end of play tomorrow!!!Official DFW Nerd - 3990 -
Hi
I have been following what everyone is doing with getting back bank charges and have read the success stories, with much anticipation of getting my own charges, one of which was £35, for going £3 over my overdraft limit. I have tried to get over this by increasing my overdraft limit on many occasions, and my bank, Lloyds TSB, refuse this but offer me a loan of £5,000 instead, I just don't see the logic in that only that they would make more money out of me that way!!
Anyway, I sent off the template letter requesting all my default charges over the last 6 years, and have had a reply this morning saying that they will send my six years worth of statements, but that the charges applied are not default charges so do not apply to my account. This is what they say:
"The Office of Fair Trading has published new guidelines of credit card default charges. We're still talking it through with them, but the important point is that the guidelines are about 'default' charges that people pay when they break an agreement with us. This doesn't apply to your charges as these were for dealing with your request to over your agreed overdraft limit(??!!). They are not default charges because you haven't broken your agreement. They are our prices for the service we provide in theses situations. I do hope you can see that we make our charging system as fair as possible"
Surely me going over my 'agreed' overdraft limit IS breaking an agreement? So, where do I go from here? Did anyone get similar responses? Would love to hear what happened, and any advice you guys might have.
Cheers x0 -
Standard letter from Lloyds, once you get your statements/information just send off the first letter with your list of charges and start your claim going.0
