Oooooh I am so tempted, I have a little sneaky £20 note just sitting there left over from last month, so would only really cost the £5.49. And surely I would make my money back with thinner slices or bread and meat!? Will I ......... won't I?

Ooooops, it would seem I have reserved one! Also the last in store!

    Thanks OP!

I have this slicer and can highly recommend it. It saves me a fortune in slicing meat. I buy joints of meat, cook, cool, slice and freeze for sandwiches. Better quality meat for much less than pre-packed or deli prices. It's also great for making salami go further and for slicing homemade bread.

Picked up my slicer today. I am going to use it later on a gammon joint.

  • Just popped in to say, the slicer was a great success. It sliced the whole gammon really well.

I got that exact one earlier this month with some money I had from Christmas. I'd been thinking about one for ages but couldnt justify the money...................what a rediculous thing to think!! I love it and it would have paid for itself in next to no time. I am so glad I got it now. Its been used for a joint of beef, donner kebab meat and various kinds of bread/fruit loaves. Infact today I'm currently cooking more donner meat and was thinking about doing a banana loaf as I have some rather sad looking bananas to use up and it will be used for both i think :)
As for cleaning it there ARE a few nooks and crannies that need extra care but I keep an old toothbrush for just those kind of bits and it takes no more than about mins to clean and put away ready for next time :)

I've been looking for a cheap food slicer for a couple of weeks and spotted this one today at Tesco Direct here
It's only a fiver off, and I can't say if it's any good or not, though reviews are reasonable.
You can get free delivery to some stores and I used Topcashback too.

It looks surprisingly similar to the 'Cookworks' slicer sold by Argos. I have one of those and it is OK for the price. I only use mine to slice my home made bread, but I think it might struggle if it had to do any more laborious work than that!

    Hi Jazzy_B,

As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the main thread on food slicers so that others can find all the recommendations together. I have a cookworks one which is great but it's a pain to wash up afterwards. :(
