Domestic Food/Meat Slicers - any good?

I am thinking of buying a meat slicer.
We allways end up wasting the leftovers from a roast and so. I am thinking a meat slicer is the answer so we can use it for sandwiches the rest of the week.
What does everyone think? Good investment or waste of money?
Thanks for ur comments.

I think they are worth having,we buy joints of meat then put them in the slow cooker. Then slice them on the machine and then vacuum pack them and freeze, works out a lot cheaper than buying sliced meat in the supermarket. We managed to but ours in Argos when they had a sale on.0

Well worth it. I use mine for slicing meat, bread, cheese etc.
Have a look at this thread:

I'll add your thread to that one later.

tbh if you can take the hassle of assembling and dismantling and washing it up every weekend - it may turn out to be worth its weight in gold to you. I am always amazed how many more portions can be got out of a joint using the slicer. (I don't do many joints of meat), but when I do and use the slicer it seems to have loads more than when I use even a sharp knife.0

We have had ours for about a month now. It is a bit of a faff to put together and wash afterwards but it makes an amazing job of slicing meat - we like bacon joints and they go so much further now. Ours was from Lakeland - an excellent buy!Downshifted

I bought one a couple of years ago and last year gave it to my DD as she has far larger joints than I ever have and she loves it.It is a bit of a pain washing it and making sure all the nooks and crannys are clean but well worth it as it does slice meat beautifully and a bit of beef goes a lot further with an electric slicer .I too bought mine in Argoose in the sale I think I paid about £15.00 odd for it,but it was around 2-3 years ago so I have no idea what they are now.Plus if like me you have a job using both arms its a bit heavy lifting ,mainly because its such an awkward shape. But a lot of the bits are detachable, mind the blade as they can be lethal.DD always washes it up on Sunday night after dinner I think she can see my fingers in a row on the draining board
:):) I am a bit cack-handed at times:):) The thickness of the slices can be adjusted as well on my one, so if your broke, you can go for very thin slices which make a joint gor further for sarnies next day
:) .She always lets the meat 'rest' after taking it from the oven for a short while as it cuts better if a bit cooler

I have a slicer and use it for slicing all sorts. I think I got mine from Lakeland, but I can't remember now. I mainly use it for slicing homemade bread though as I don't tend to cook joints of meat. Just last night I bought a wholemeal tin loaf from the co-op that was unsliced and reduced to just 50p, I'll be slicing it myself later & then freezing. Much better than having to pay 95p for the pre-sliced normal loaf :eek:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
