    Thanks Pink-winged
I got my new Tesco slicer yesterday. I've used it on 2 Panny loaves so far and does the job well.I'm really pleased with it. It's a bit flimsy , but great for £15. I'll try it out slicing a gammon joint tomorrow

It works a treat on the gammon, and we're eating a lot less bread now!
  • Thought I'd revive this thread, as after fighting to slice the last piece of a joint of roast pork yesterday, I decided I would get myself a slicer.

Despite requests, Father Christmas didn't oblige last year. :( Luckily the cookworks one is half price (£17.49) in Argos again. Just reserved mine! :)

I bought this one about 2 years ago when I have a voucher going out of date, it's sliced my HM bread, joints of meat, cheese - anything I've wanted to. Everything goes so much further when you slice it like this.

OK well as per the Ham economics thread and others I have decided I want to cook and slice more meat joints. I also want to bake more bread, but need to have neat slices for butties or the kids just won't eat it.

So I have long been thinking of an electric slicer. After a little win on the premium bonds of £25 (only hold £100 that I haven't looked at for a couple of years lol). Plus a little bit out of the savings pot I am looking for something under £50 that will cut meat and cheese (we have a makro card so can get big blocks of cheese and cured meats etc and freeze) as well as slicing homemade loaves.

I noticed LIDL have one in from the 17th

but wondered if anyone had experience with LIDL's version or any other recommendations.

That is certainly cheap, but the reviews are a bit mixed (mind you aren't they always lol).

Can I ask what sort of thing you slice with it and how often you use it?
There are 6 of us here and I would hope to slice quite large joints of meat and blocks of cheese as well as full size loaves. It would have to work hard lol.

I bought a Cookworks one 3 years ago.

I was using it to get veg & fruit in even slices for dehydrating.
The motor really struggled and made an awful noise.

I took it back to Argos and got a Graef Tendenza T5 one from Amazon which is brilliant for around £105 (It's now £81.41). I slice meat, veg, bread.

I had a look at the Lidl one, watched the video last night. It looks good for the price and remember it has a 3 year guarantee. If I didn't already have a slicer, I'd go for it.
