We tend to spread the presents out over a couple of days...open one on xmas eve...some on xmas day then save some for boxing day and the following day. That way they get to play with everything and aren't just opening one thing after another and discarding it for the next toy 5 mins later.AND the house stays far more xmassy with some pressies under the tree...I HATE how bare the room looks once everything is opened and clearedMakes xmas last longer in our house:D

overlykeensaver wrote:My daughter will be seven months old at Christmas; we have got her some toys for the bath (£5!) and then will put some money in her child trust fund account. We both figured that she won't know it's Christmas and the idea of seeing her opening a little present is just for our benefit!
However some people I know are buying loads of presents for their babies - Do you think we are mean?

We have already done most of our chopping. Step son (11) has got a Hot Wheels set
Step daughter (10) OH doesn't know what to get her. I have told him what I think she'd like, but hey who am I to say anything
DD1 (8) has got a rock tumbler - she will love it
DD2 has got a Barbie horsey head thing
DS (20 mths) has got a dumper truck with mega bloks and a hard hat0 -
LopezLopez wrote:Crispeater, you do not seem stuck for ideas to me! In my own personal opinion, that's already a lot of presents for such young children to receive in one go. They will probably receive presents from friends and family too, right? I don't know, children don't really need that many material things, do they??Penny xxx

12yo is getting a digital camera with bag and memory card and stuff. Spent £65
4yo is getting Doctor Who stuff - she loves him! So she has a large Doctor Doll, a large Cyberman and a Tardis moneybox.
2yo is getting a Millie Doll from ELC with the free accessory set.
They will all have a Stocking with a further £20 of stuff in each (small games etc) suitable for the ages - but in total I reckon I have spent £300 for the 4 kids - all bought via Quidco to!Penny xxx

well i've stopped for my children now, i brought them a fluffy dressing gown each from the debenhams 25% off day with an extra 10% code and a free p&p code
i dont mind spending the money on these as my dd had one when she was 18mths and she is now 3 1/2 and still wears it lol
so thats them officially FINISHED lolIt only seems kinky the first time.. :A0 -
My DD (2) is doing incredibly well this year. I said I didn't want anymore toys in the house this year so said we'd just buy her a traditional rocking horse. It was an ebay bargain, they normally cost 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 thousand £ but I got it new for £1,200. It was made to order and it's gorgous. Since ordering it in September I've managed to buy quite a few other bits too though including
wooden bike,
walking barking fluffy dog thing,
sling for dolly,
noddy soft toys,
noddy vehicle set,
noddy cd, (can you see a theme yet :rotfl: )
glitter pens and few other small bits.
DS1 (21) won't get much because we bought him an expensive mobile with contract for his birthday in October and told him it's for xmas too.
DS2 (17) always says he doesn't want anything so will probably give him about £250 cash. Thinking about it I did order him a new xbox game which hasn't arrived Hmmmmmm0 -
