Crispeater, you do not seem stuck for ideas to me! In my own personal opinion, that's already a lot of presents for such young children to receive in one go. They will probably receive presents from friends and family too, right? I don't know, children don't really need that many material things, do they??
  • To be honest, from what you have put in your post I think it sounds enough.

My son will be getting one present from us, he will be coming up for 3 yo

Last year we were opening presents for days on end, and it ended up being a chore for him.

    Phew, that's enough I reckon!

  • 1 year old is getting a folding scooter (if Boots ever get them in stock) and a dressing up costume, total £35.

4 year old is getting a pedal-less bike and dressing up costume, total £45.

8 year old is sharing a second hand x box and 14 games and dressing up costume, total £50.

10 year old is sharing the x box and getting a dressing up costume, total £50.

We will probably buy about £50 worth of books from Schoollink with money given by grandparents.

I am a bit amazed about the amount of money spent of children these days and I feel uncomfortable with even the amount we have spent on the children this year.

I think that's more than enough for children, especially with 4 of them.

Wow I am staggered people are getting so much. I am planning to spend a maximum of £10 each for my four (ages 5-12).

I'm keeping a close eye on freecycle for anything they might like. Maybe lamps or rugs or bedroomy things for the girls. Last year I got two Action Men and an Action Man sports car from freecycle for my son, he was very pleased though they were probably 10 years old!

I'm going to put a wanted ad on freecycle for roller blades - any or all of them would like those.

I'm also collecting stuff for stockings and will buy a few sweets and cheap bits. I already have sparklers (saved from last year's crackers, don't know how they lasted this long!) bendy pencils (saved from a party bag), bubbles (ditto), stickers (free from the library a while back) and for one daughter a Johnny Cash CD that came free with a newspaper. She's the only 8 year old Johnny Cash fan I know of. I will also get toothbrushes, flannels and socks which they need anyway.

Luckily we have quite a big family so they will get lots of presents to unwrap. They have never seemed disappointed by their presents in the past.
