    DS1 (17)
expensive laptop, mouse, a few stocking presents
    DD1 (20)
    Muse tickets
    gold bracelet
    ipod
    clothes
    hairdryer, hairbrush, a book
    money
    a few stocking presents

The same has been spent on them but its awkward when opening presents that he has only one gift under the tree and she has many.

I spend a lot on them at Christmas because they get nothing for the rest of the year except a small birthday present.

My DH's Gran buys a crazy amount for our 4 kinders. Her idea of a Christmas stocking is a black bin bag!! She also gives me money !!
My gran is the same:rolleyes: and that's why we have cut down so much on what we buy the kids this year.

my niece age 6 asked for a badge maker &downfall game, i got the game £7.99 -parents got the badge maker £16.99. Nephew age 5 wanted a power rangers zoid thingy about £40 so we split the cost £20. each. They insist they dont want anything else and they get little treats nearly every week or so anyway. Theres no reason to give them a bag full of toys they'll get bored with after a few hours.

me too, they have an early christmas at the in-laws and then my own mum buys more presents than santa! i have been round there in the past and taken half of her pile of presents to put in his pile at my house :rotfl: she's just been round this year with presents she can't fit into the huge sack she's done for him, for me to add to his sack here 'because you said you hadn't got him much' - i haven't got him much because he's got a wii (and a second hand PS2!).

we built roo's bookcase yesterday while he was asleep. he's only 1 and doesn't know about christmas, so it doesn't matter if he gets things early. he was so excited when he came down from his sleep and everytime he comes into the living room he goes to check it's still here. he absolutely loves it and has rearranged his books several hundred time. i'm glad i bought it!

We've put the pressies out and there's loads from relatives, so I;m glad we haven't gone mad too. There's some more at my ILs from them that will be given mid-morning tomorrow.

What does your eldest think re FC jelyhead?

he doesn't believe, he's ten. actually he told me at seven and a half that he didn't believe in it anymore but he enjoys the story and rudolph's cute etc. so he pretended for a while, and now he enjoys pretending for roo's sake. even though he hasn't believed in it for 3 years he enjoys all the traditions.

i asked around at the time (i was gutted that at 7 he didn't believe in it) and most children seem to stop believing at age 9-ish. my nephew is nearly ten and this year he stopped believing, other nephew is 7 and believes in FC completely. i casually mentioned it in a year 5 class i helped in, and more than half believed in FC and a couple were even going to lapland, at age 9.

i wish spud had believed in it for longer, i felt quite sorry for him.
