The Talktalk forum is definitely worth visit if you are having problems. We have had numerous problems that have never been solved over the phone.
I went to the forum and straight away they were trying to solve it. It has improved but they said the connection was still dropping so sent us a new router and filters.

I'd never ring talktalk again, not when they have such an excellent team of people on the forum.

If you do use TT's forum, start a new thread here on MSE, then cut/paste each post and reply. That way we get to see how useful TT's forum really is.

Would it not be easier to just nip over to the forum and read customers problems and solutions?

And, if the loss of connection is not TT's fault, dont forget to lose your rag with your new provider as well and demand a new MAC number, and again.. ;)

I wont defend TT's phone help lines, but the TT forum is excellent.

    Try reading the sticky threads
, it may be that the problems are to do with your wiring or appliances. And you dont say whether TT provide line rental or just broadband.

I'm not having a go at you but, as I'm someone with TT who has recently realised that a slow connection was all our fault :o not theirs, I'm cautious at slagging them off.

Hi sorry for not being clear yes i have line rental with talk talk and i am not complaining about slow connection i'ts about disrupted connection keep being disconnected constantly:(! when their engineer came out he said he could not find any fault in my home but said i did not have enough meg only 2.5 so not enough to run the tv and my broadband he also said i was close to the exchange so should have no problems :( i've never had any kind of problem in the past and feel t/t are just taking the whiz. i will have a look on the t/t forum though so thanks for that.:)

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I started a thread on the main "home phones" forum and one reply I had gave me a link which has sent me here. I am new to forums, so am not sure how to start a new thread here, so have posted as a quick reply. Sorry if this is wrong, but any help or ideas would be most welcome.

So here is a brief explanation of the problem I have regarding TT.

I was making almost constant weekly calls to Talk Talk, trying to get them to get call waiting, 1571 and 1471 working on my account, (as I was paying for them in my call package) and they could NEVER seem to get them activated at all. Every time I called they checked my account and confirmed that these were NOT activated. They would then assure me that these WOULD be active within 72 hours of the call. This never happened! Every time I called it would be the same complete waste of time, and most of the time the call was spent with them repeating themselves over and over due to the fact I could just not understand what they were saying, or in other cases they could not understand me. This obviously made EVERY call very frustrating and totally pointless.
Eventually in September 2010, I had had enough. As I had been a TT customer for approx 4 years, and was paying for services I was not receiving, I decided to change back to BT, as they were offering a very good deal. I contacted BT and they asked for my details and said they could change everything for me and give me a date when I would be connected with them (BT).
I received a bill from TT and paid it in full on Sept 27th 2010. I was informed by BT that they had sorted everything, and I would be connected on October 8th 2010. Which I was.
Everything was fine. until in January 2011 I started receiving calls from a debt collection agency who informed me that I owed £81. After a lot of messing about, I found out that the debt had been passed to them from TT. I explained what had happened, and they agreed that until it was sorted out with TT, they would cancel the debt and send it back to TT.
I then contacted TT to find out why this debt collection agency had contacted me, and they said it was because I had not paid my final bill, and that I had been charged for terminating my contract before the 18 months had expired.
I explained that I had not received anything after the bill I paid in September and also asked when this contract had been renewed, as I had never been sent a contract of any sort, or any other notification whatsoever. TT said that I had agreed the new contract in a telephone conversation with one of their operators.
I asked them to supply evidence of this contract, copies of the final bill that I never received along with any reminders that they had apparently also sent me. I have not received any of this, and no other contact whatsoever from TT since that conversation.
In the last few days though, I have began receiving calls from the debt collectors again.
I just want to know what I have to do to get this sorted out.
Many thanks to anyone who may have some help or advice.
  • i noticed my monthly payment hadnt been taken when on my online banking, i checked my DD instructions to find its been cancelled (not by me) i then logged into my tiscali/talk talk account to find a bill waiting + a £4.50 admin charge for not paying by direct debit.

any ideas what to do, theior didnt even seem to be an option to reactivate the DD

and i dont see why i should be paying a 4.50 admin fee when i didnt even request a change in payment method.

See that person with a big yellow streak down their back running-off into the distance whilst clucking like a chicken?, that's the 'TalktalkRepresentative' running-off to their own forum that is.
