Strength isn't really the issue, it's all about toxicity and also whether or not something crosses the placenta. Opiates (like tramadol) are pretty non-toxic, i.e. they don't cause birth defects.
If you take them a lot towards the end of your pregnancy I guess there's a possibility that your baby might suffer some withdrawal but please, please don't take my word for this. It's something that you need to be talking to your GP and midwife about. You have some particular healthcare needs and you should hopefully be carefully monitored and advised."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Have we still got some lurkers out there? Cherrydrop? Dizsiebubba? Sara-ra-ra? Hope you are all doing ok.
Still here, still lurking - 10 weeks today, so we're quietly going insane waiting for the 12 week scan. Everything was fine last week at my 9 week one, baby has arms and legs and was moving a bit which was very exciting. The queasiness seems to be easing off a bit, or maybe I've just got better at managing it.
Lauradora, I'm so, so sorry for your loss - that is exactly what happened with my last pregnancy. I hope you're feeling ok and you're taking some time to recover, both physically and mentally. Look after each other.
Glad to see some people have positive scans, especially Mishka - that must be a huge relief. Rups, I'm pleased you had a better experience at Croydon even if they didn't scan you. Just hang on in there, it sounds like your body is doing everything properly and unfortunately all of pregnancy is a waiting game.0 -
morning all.. i am back from the hospital..
welcome wigan and hope you have fun with us here.
thank you so so much for your lovely wishes. i was worried as usual and i m glad they didnt send me away. they all looked serious when they were discussing stuff and i got worried as usual and DH was getting annoyed with me lol.. we turned up there at 830 and the clinic opens at 9. lol. then we sat for an hour and i got scanned. i was asked if having a male sonographer was ok and i didnt care at that point, as was not going back home to come back.. ok ok. anyway. we saw the little bubba (a little blob) and we saw a heartbeat. :j as soon as he said that i started crying.i hope all stays well now. i am trying to be as calm as i can, its so hard!!! i am relieved but i am hoping i reach the 12 week mark quickly now.. eek!!! help me relax please? they tried to check out my ovaries. my left was fine but they couldnt see the right. weird! i was worried with that pain as well. touch wood and thank god all is ok. got to keep calm. xxxx
