    hi everyone

laradora- so sorry to hear of your news, my thoughts are with you and your oh, take time and look after yourself.

rups- hopefully you will be able to get a scan for wed sorted out soon, like the other have said, they probably want to rule out an etopic, when i went as an emergency to a ward after hours as the epu was closed they didnt scan but they did perform an internal exam where they try to see if you feel any pain during the exam.
glad the antibitotis were safe for you, the antibitotics i tried to get last time for myself and was refused were quite strong so thats probably why i was refused.

izzydogsam- congrats on your scan, hoping the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

kavics- sorry to hear of your oh sending you hugs and some virtual support, your not a bad person at all, tell your parents the way that is best for you.
good luck for your scan as well hope the days go quickly for you.

So sorry to hear your news lauradora :( As everyone else has said, hope you and your OH are looking after each other. ((hugs))

Kavics - you are not a bad person in the slightest. Tell people when you are good and ready. There is no 'rule' on how or when people should be told - its entirely down to you. Big hugs for you and your OH. Must be hard for you at the moment. Having no symptoms doesn't mean anything, and shouldn't make you think anything is wrong. Some people just simply don't get many pregnancy symptoms. One of my friends didn't realise she was pregnant right up to being in labour. I always thought that people like this were in denial or v stupid. But she was neither. She had regular periods, and literally no symptoms. The baby didn't move or wriggle much once it was born, so they presumed it must have been the same while it was inside her. She did gain some weight and went to the doctors about this - and he said that she had thyroid issues so prescribed her some medicine! She has 2 other children as well - so she is well aware of what pregnancy is like.

Rups - when they do the blood test - thats to test your levels of HCG. They like to test the levels again a couple of days later to check the levels are rising. This is a sign that the pregnancy is going ok in the early days. If the level was dropping, it would be a sign of miscarriage. The period / stretchy type pains lasted for 2-3 weeks I think with me - altho I still do get the odd funny pain but it goes quite soon after it starts now, whereas in the beginning it was more constant.

Anmarj - Hope the sickness eases for you soon. You could just say the blanket was for a friend who was expecting if anyone started asking questions?

Moneypenny - how are you doing now? I had spotting for the first couple of weeks, but it wasn't very much and it was all brownish, so I didn't worry about it. From what I read, light bleeding is quite normal in early pregnancy, but if it gets heavy or bright red, then you should get it checked out. It would just be a lot nicer to not see any blood there at all tho, I know that.

AFM - not feeling too bad at the mo. Sickness seems to be easing slightly hopefully. Just being sick once a day now on average - altho yesterday I managed to be sick in a plastic bag travelling on one of them small land trains to the seaside. People were stood waving and taking photos of the train as I was busy puking in my bag - niiiiice!! Pregnancy is so undignified :rotfl: Feeling a lot happier overall tho - mainly because I have some food inside my body I think so I actually have some energy. Had a lovely weekend away and did lots of resting and sleeping. Looking forward to our scan - only 2 sleeps to go :j

morning all.. hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

i am glad that i am out of the house and at work, as i stayed in all weekend. was sleeping most of the time anyway. haha..

not enjoying food now as i dont know what i want. eveything i look at is making me feel yuck. last night DH made a lovely pasta and added turkey to it, and one look at the turkey, and i felt sick, so i removed the meat and had the veggie part. yuck. this morning, i woke up starving, but didnt knw what to have. so i went and got one of those yoghurt/granola pots from marks and finally managed to eat a bit of it. not having enough water too. :(

the right pain isnt there. phew. i think i overdid it reading about ectopic preg and freaking myself out. tomorrow will just go and hope they scan me as i need to see it. am going to go with the attitude that whatever is meant to happen will happen.. otehrwise am just winding myself up way too much. :)

Rups, I think you're just going to have to resign yourself to the fact that you're going to have a really tough first trimester. Like me, your tendency is to worry plus your natural anxieties will be made worse by your previous horrible experience.

Just hang in there, it does get easier. Once you're past the first scan and see your baby wriggling, you relax a little. A few weeks later, you'll start feeling the baby move. Your aches and pains will be better, you'll have a better appetite, you'll sleep better and you'll start to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

Early pregnancy is tough, it's hard for all of us, particularly for those who have had problems before. Just go with it and don't beat yourself up too much about worrying. But do try to remember that you are a worrier and much of how you feel is probably exaggerated simply due to your perspective.

And please don't ever stop posting. Hopefully we can help, and from my own selfish point of view, I find your posts adorable :)

ahh your post made me smile. :) hugs. xxx thanks so much..

DH says the same and tells me to chill out. easy for him. i know he is so pragmatic and says if it doesnt work out, then we try again.. but i keep telling him that it is my body that is going through the stuff. bless him :).. but due to my past experience like you put it, the fear is ten times worse. :(

yes you are very right in saying the 1st trimester is the worst!!! i just need a little re-assurance and i will be fine, hopefully! :) just hate feeling sick. yuck.. chewing gum is not helping. any more tips please? thank god i am not throwing up, but am constantly sitting with a frown on as i feel sick. :)

I did.:p Bloody hell, there's alot of them, aren't there?!

She did offer me blood tests but I asked if I could have them done at the GP surgery by the Phlebotomist because she's the only one who can get blood out of me! :p

She did the urine stick test and the ketones bit was glowing but she said that's most likely because I did the urine sample before I had eaten anything.

She is really lovely and made me feel at ease.

i like the bounty pack. i chucked my last one away, but i want another one now. :) hehe

Lauradora so sorry to hear your sad news, my thoughts are with you and your OH. Big hugs. x

Rups hugs to you too; I can certainly understand why you are anxious and keen to have scan and know that everything is ok. I was so ill in my first trimester that, even though I knew I was pregnant, I didn't really believe it until the first scan when I saw LO moving around! I totally went off all food and drink when i was about 5 weeks pregnant - I literally would feel sick and wretched and the mere mention of food stuffs! My poor OH tried very hard to suggest things that I might like to eat but everytime I would pull a face and end up shouting at him cos he just made me feel worse! I just had to eat whatever I fancied at the time, I couldn't plan in advance as it would literally be a snap decision as to what I should have to eat! The sick feeling was always worse when I was hungry too and I would only get a bit of relief from it whilst eating - as soon as I finished, the nausea would start up straight away. I was one very miserable pregnant lady! The only advise I can give to you is to stay away from anything too fatty - I craved chips one night and pizza another but as soon as I had them the heartburn was awful and I was doubled over in tears. i think it was the carbs that i was actually after - when I was off food, potatoes seemed to be the only thing that I wanted so one day it would be jacket potato, the next would be ovem chips and then the next potato croquettes or waffles! I also ate a lot of sliced white bread - basically foods that I never eat!

As for drinks, well - I couldn't bear anything except skimmed milk! I usually love water but I couldn't bear this either. In the end, the only way I could have a drink was with a glass full of crushed ice! I would have very very weak squash or I would get a bit of OJ and top it up with water. I don't know why the crushed ice helped but it did. I also found that tonic water was good - I think it has something to do with the 'clean' taste but the only downside with this is that I was suffering with bloating anyway and this made it worse!

I'll be honest with you, there were days when I didn't know how I would get through it all and I would just sit and cry sometimes but I am now 22 weeks and although i occasionally have the odd sicky feeling the morning sickness has eased off and you di feel better! It's easy to say, but try not to worry or stress too much as this will affect your stomach and can increase heartburn or digestive problems. I'd stay clear of chewing gum if you can - increases bloating and will make you hungry - perhaps try tic tacs/mints instead? Hope the above is of some use to you, or that you feel some comfort knowing that you are not alone!
