LadyM I'm a pescetarian too, and my DH is a meat-eater but doesn't eat fish. He also wondered if I would crave meat in pregnancy, but I haven't. I know plenty of people who have had healthy pregnancies and babies who are vegetarian. As long as you are getting a balanced diet, and watch your iron intake, you and the baby should be fine.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Can anyone recommend any books etc about pregnancy? - this is our first child/pregnancy and both OH and I want to do some homework.
I got the What to expect and the New pregnancy and birth book by Miriam G. I got both from charity shops, newest edition for £1.75 each.LadyMorticia wrote: »Hello lovelies. I'm hoooooooooooome.

My washable nappies arrived today, they're so adorable can't wait to try them on our beanie!
LittleMoog, I just got (well on Fri) washable nappies as well on gumtree. A lady is selling her set worth of £350 for £100. We are exchanging on Friday, I can't wait. I know it's early but I want the pregnancy and baby to be as MSE as possible and I rather collect everything early for cheap than get lots of things full price once baby is here.
Not sure if it helps to anyone but ASDA has some moses basket/pram sheets for sale, original price is £5 for two but it's reduced now for £3. I just had to get those:o:D.0 -
Hello all - LadyM great to hear you are OK - I wouldn't worry about the veggie thing, just make sure you are getting your protein & iron from other sources. I'm not veggie and have been wolfing down roast beef as my body seems to want it at the moment - but my body doesn't handle veggies well at the best of times - very much a meat and potatoes girl me! I was trying to get my healthy eating up before I got pregnant by slowly introducing more pulses and beans and things (very good for folic acid!) but it always takes me ages to introduce a new food to myself and with the morning sickness recently I've gone straight back to 'safe' foods!
I'm a bit fed up as I'm still waiting for my referral to the midwife unit (saw the doctor 2 weeks ago today) and I looked on their website today and they do the first scan after 8 weeks - which is this Friday! I think I might go past tomorrow and check they actually have the referral - the GP was fairly useless - all he asked was when my last period was and which unit (out of two) I wanted to be referred to. No comment as to any things in pregancy to watch out for, cut down on, avoid, or do (like folic acid). Thankfully I'd already read a book or two by then...0 -
Just saw this on ttc thread - I get my vitamins free in Wales but good of Asda and apparently their baby event starts Monday which is lots of reduced things so maybe it ties in!
http://your.asda.com/news-and-blogs/asda-pharmacies-to-offer-free-folic-acid-for-pregnant-women - bit embarassing though as I only look pregnant in tighter clothes and I have just started to get a rounder bump but maybe if I take my free nappies voucher i got for joining their baby club, they'll figure it out!!

Savage your scan is normally around the 12 weeks mark hun and your booking in appointment tends to be around the 10 week mark. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I wouldn't worry too much about it; a balanced diet should provide you with some folic acid as well. You're aware of it now, so maybe get hold of some other tablets (Sainsburys and Tesco do pregnancy supplements too), and hang on to the ones you've got for the second and third trimesters.
I'm not taking any at the moment, my tablets are like horse pills and I can't swallow them
