    hi everyone

mlbarrett- congrats on the news, sorry to hear of your mc in dec i had one at the end of oct and can understand how you feel about being unsure of being on the board properly. Just take your time and hoping everything goes smoothly for you this time.

cake4brains- hi and congrats on your news and double congrats on your twins as well, wow very exciting!

to all the newbies on the board congrats on your news and i hope your pregnancys go smoothly and the weeks fly by.

littlemoog- sorry to hear that you are feeling ill with sickness again, hoping that you manage to get soemthing to eat (and it stays down) and some time to relax as well today to look afteryourself.

lady m- glad that you got a gp appointment, please dont leave the board though, the first 12 weeks are very stressful and a worrying time. We all mean well when we tell you to go to a gp, as i hope anyone would tell me if i was in the same situation. Please dont worry about worrying anyone else, everyone worries and it is good to be able to 'talk' to one another. Please let us know how you get on, it sounds like you will get an early scan and the overnight bag is probabaly just a precaution. (ive been taken into hospital in the past for similar symptoms) Once you have had the scan you will know more. Please let us know how you get on.Wishing you all the best.

afm had some pains today and sorry for the tmi but while walking the pains were right up my lady bits if you see what i mean? it kinda of took my breath away but only for a fleeting moment, like a shooting pain.
I have had this pain before when pregnant previously, but all the times ive been pregnant hasnt ended too good, so i am a bit worried the pain means something, but trying my best to think it might be stretching. I havent had any blood (touches wood not to curse myself) and havent had the pain since this afternoon so hoping its just stretching down below.

Someone asked earlier in a post about telling everyone, we have told both sets of parents but have given them strict instructions to keep quiet, i figure if something does go wrong at least they will know some of the story and they can be there for support for me and oh.

I havent been to the docs yet even, with my area you make an appointement with the midwfie to see her at the doctors surgery she has a quick chat gives you the forms to fill in and then she makes another appointment (booking one) at a later date and she arranges the 12 week scan and you get a letter in the post.

But i know this might sound mad, but i am really not looking forward to any scans or seeing any docs or midwifes or booking appointments, we have had so many bad scans and bad news in those rooms, im really just dreading going in there thinking im pregnant and coming out and finding out its all over. I know some people say its real once they have their appointments but for me i worry it will be all over once i have my appointments-sorry if that sounds mad!

My mum is asking me when im going for my early scan (because of my previous history i need to have one at about 8 weeks) but im honestly dreading it, wish i could just avoid all scans and have it pop out when all is ready, but also know somehow that everything is alright at the same time. :) yep im going mad!

sorry for the long post, hope everyone is feeling nice and pregnant tonight:T

    Hi Cleo,

I know what you mean about the scans, I am relaxed until the week before when both me and OH start panicking about it being all over. Had our 16 week scan today so feeling calmer at least until the next one.

    Looks like a girl :D

LM my thoughts are with you, hoping that it is just a safety precaution and everything is fine.

    Evening all :D

LadyM - hope everything is ok for you. We will all be thinking about you - and just wanted to echo what everyone else has said - don't feel like you shouldn't post on here at all. Everyone is here for each other during the happy and good times and the sad or worrying times. Hoping its good and happy news for you tho.

Littlemoog - boooo for your sickness! Have you been to the docs about it cos it does seem really bad!! Have you tried sea bands? They helped one of my friends with her sickness. Yayy for your bargain with the nappies and wipes too :j

Cleofish - am sure that kind of pain is normal. Were you around on the TTC board when they were on about botty pains?! :rotfl: It just sounds like that but up your foof instead. I've had it before, and everything has been ok. Don't think it is linked to pregnancy or a sign that things aren't going well or anything like that. Try not to worry.

Kavics - I had my booking in appt today (they think I am 9+2 based on my last period) and they booked in a scan whilst I was there so I have a date for that now. I think it does vary quite a lot between areas tho. Did you say you have a friend who is pregnant too who you have told? Have you asked her if she has heard anything? (apologies if I have got you confused with someone else!)

Dizsiebubba - thanks for doing that list - it looks fab! Exciting to see everybody's name together on there. Will be even more exciting when people start graduating from this thread too - eeekkk!!

AFM - booking in appt went well. They took urine and blood samples, to screen for various things (UTI, clamidia (sp?), sickle cell, HIV, hepititus, iron count erm - and a few others). They did my blood pressure which was normal, and height and weight which showed my BMI was too high (32) - booo! I did know it was gonna say that tho :o They did a detailed medical history of me, and also mine and DH's immediate family. DH was able to come with me to the appt which was great - as I wouldn't have been sure of some of the answers for some of his family. They went through my DD's birth with me to get all that info - eg natural birth, weight etc.

They said I would be on a consultant based team instead of the usual midwife based team as I had a 3rd degree tear with DD and I also have a history of frequent UTI's. I was a bit surprised about that - was expecting to just be seeing midwives - but I suppose it can only be a good thing that they will be keeping an eye on me. I think it will be that I maybe have 1 or 2 appts with a consultant rather than a midwife, that should be the only difference.

They booked me on for a scan whilst I was there - 9th May - so not too long to wait for that. They have me down as 9+2 dated from LMP, but I know I am 7+1 dated from ov, so I am presuming they will put me back when I have my scan as I should be measuring behind the due date they gave me of 18/11/12. Don't know whether to change me on the list or not, as I think my date is more accurate - but I guess I will get a better date after the scan. Next appt with the midwife isn't until 28th May, so 6 weeks to wait for that one.

Hope that helps for people who aren't sure what to expect. It took about an hour - which it did say it would take that on the letter I got with the appt details on it, but I didn't actually believe it would take that long :rotfl:
