Thank you for the warm welcome! :)

Have been sipping lots of water this afternoon & had some melba toasts. Hungry now though & dinner's nearly ready.

Am back to work tomorrow- as a teacher in an Autistic Unit, not quite sure when I'll tell Head as have heard that they move pregnant staff to other departments of school or at least put risk assessments in place.

OH has said we can tell both sets of parents next weekend but then no-one else until after the scan. So will enjoy it being our secret for a lottle longer ;)

    Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome. We have decided that we won't tell anyone until after scan, gotta see the Dr first!

I am very excited, but a little apprehensive due to everything being so early - does anyone else feel like that?

I have had a bit of nausea, but seriously what is with the burping??? lol - I sound like a novelty toy!! :rotfl:

I've never burped so much in my life! I think it's something to do with progesterone slowing down the digestive system, so more gas is produced from the food sitting around a bit longer.

My sister was a teaching assistant in a special school (severe learning difficulties) when she was pg and told them quite early on as it wasn't uncommon for her to get pushed/shoved/rammed by some of the older kids (up to 19). They did a risk assessment and changed her duties significantly, so it may be worth you telling them sooner rather than later rather than put yourself at risk.

    morning ladies
grotty with morning sickness today, so called in sick to work. Feel a bit guilty as I've been on hols since before easter, when I worked at home for the whole week due to morning sickness, so not actually been in to work for 2 weeks! Really feeling grim though, been sick 4 times already today, just couldn't face the idea of getting in the car :(

I wish I could say that I'm feeling better but I keep on getting brown blood (I know that that is better than fresh blood though!) and very bad cramps in my right abdomen.

I hate complaining and feel bad about it. :( Going to see if it subsides and then if it doesn't, get in touch with my GP. She said to get in touch with her if I have any bleeding, but I don't know if she just meant blood red bleeding or any bleeding.=/ Oh, and she only works part time!

It's nice to read about other people's pregnancies though.:)

I had brown bleeding for a few weeks and everything was fine with me. But given your one-sided cramps and your shoulder pain a few days ago, I don't think it would be a bad idea for you to at least phone your surgery x.

  • Welcome to the newer people; Emmylou & Needhelpsaving. (Sorry if i missed anybody else!)

Re telling people; im a nightmare and have told most of my team at work, HR manager and my director, a couple we are both close to so we can talk to them for advice and a friend of mine. Family told me years ago that they don't want to know until 12 weeks so keeping it quiet from them for now. OH doesn't know i have told quite so many people! :O

I never burp or 'pass wind' - my oh regularly tells people because he thinks it so weird but during the pregnancy everything makes me burp or get hiccups!

I was very sick this morning, but only water because that's all I had managed to get down me at that point. It was so violent that I have burst blood vessels on my eyelids :( I was sobbing my heart out after as I felt so sorry for myself lol!

LadyMorticia - I really think you should go to your local EPU, they are really lovely there and so won't tell you off it turns out to all be fine. With a risk of ectopic it is better to be safe than sorry... if it ruptures(?) you could do some really bad permanent damage and I think there are even greater risks!

Hello everyone and welcome to the newbies.:)

I've booked an appointment to see a GP today. Not my GP (as much as I would have loved to) as she doesn't work Mondays but another female one (I don't like going to male GPs about female things or things like this. It makes me feel uncomfortable) so will see what she says. I've seen this GP before and she seems nice enough (I find it hard to get on with GPs as alot of them don't understand my history which is why I have a good rapport with my GP because she's fantastic).

Nausea seems to be easing which I'm worried about.:( I mean, sure I don't want to be throwing up all the time like some of the ladies here as even just being nauseous means I won't eat for fear of that happening but I'm worried it's a bad sign.:(

Shoulder pain has come back with a vengeance so really worried but I think I might bow out of this thread for a little while as I don't want to worry any of the other mummys-to-be on this thread.

In the nicest possible way, don't be ridiculous :) These things are part and parcel of early pregnancy, and that's what this thread is for - the stress of early pregnancy. Unfortunately, 1/4 (or 25%) of pregnancies end in miscarriage, 1 in 50 are ectopic and approximately half of all women get some bleeding in pregnancy, and we see it all here because you get the people who start with a BFP and then go on either to graduate or - horribly - to get bad news.

I've crashed and burned out of this thread twice in the last 6 months with early miscarriages, but if my experiences mean that someone else knows where to go to get support, who to talk to in the medical profession, what an EPU is, then that's a positive outcome of my time on this thread. Because I'm being silly, I'm not signing on to here but I am lurking and if I can help someone who is feeling that uncertainty and worry then I will if I can.

So. Go to the GP. I hope it's good news for you, and I hope she refers you to be scanned, just to be on the safe side. Make sure you mention the shoulder tip pain and say that you've read that it could be a symptom of ectopic. If she doesn't think so she'll tell you why and that should put your mind at rest. And let us know how you get on, we're cheering you from the sidelines.

Lady M, don't go anywhere! We're all here to support each other through this stressful time, it's why this thread exists. and as Sara-ra-ra said, please mention the shoulder pain/concerns over ectopic to the gp when you see her!
