Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! 2

Hi everyone, I know this tends to be a place for the ladies to chat about being less than 12 weeks but I wondered if you could help me out.
My wife took a ClearBlue test last Thursday (her period was due on Wednesday) and it came back as positive with 1-2 weeks since conception. We are both absolutely over the moon and excited but equally apprehensive at the same time because we know not to get our hopes up until 12 weeks – but this is incredibly difficult when it’s our first and something we both want so much…
congratulations on the pregnancy.
She has been in touch with the doctor and is due a call from a midwife today, and been booked in for a check with the doctor for the end of the month. I am trying not to worry her with anything so I’m doing as much reading and research as I can so I know what to expect and what my role needs to be during the next (fingers crossed) nine months. I want to be a rock for her and be there every single step of the way, but I feel helpless at the moment since there really doesn’t seem to be anything I can do.
So a few questions:
1. She is feeling very queasy a lot of the time but has not been sick at all. I was expecting morning sickness so is it normal that she isn’t actually being sick at any point? She is eating normally albeit a little less because she feels queasy. yes it's completely normal to feel queasy and not be sick. My morning sickness didn't progress to actually being sick until I was around 6weeks and even then it wasn't always every day. I think although it's not pleasant, I found it easier when I was sick as I tended to feel better afterwards. The best thing for her to do is try not to avoid eating (even though I sympathise completely with not wanting to) as it was when my tummy got empty that I started to feel nauseous. Even if she can only stomach a couple of rich t biscuits or similar - I think it's about keeping the blood sugar levels fiairly even.
2. She is also very tired, all the time – often going to bed at 6-7pm and dozing off a few times during the day (at the weekend when relaxing obviously, she doesn’t fall asleep at work!) – is this normal or does it indicate a deficiency in something? Tiredness is usually one of the first pregnancy symptoms and it's due to the increased levels of progesterone rushing through the body. It doesn't necessarily indicate a deficiency. Blood tests done at the booking in appointment with your midwife will show if she is deficient in iron.
3. One of her breasts has started to hurt which I was expecting, the other does not hurt at all. Should both be sore/tender or is this something we need to get checked out? One of my breasts hurt more tha the other one, so try not to worry about this. I used to find that one was more tender at the time of the month too, so I guess it's just due to the sensitivity of the breast tissues to hormones again.
4. Apart from Folic Acid (which she is taking every day) are there any other supplements that we need to invest in? Your doctor will recommend that your wife takes 10micrograms of vitamin D every day throughout the pregnancy and also if she chooses to breast feed.
5. What is the actual process now, what should we expect for the next couple of months with doctors, appointments etc? I don’t want to burden her with stress or questions, but I want to be there for her all the way. If you haven't been to the doctor yet, then give them a call. Some surgeries like you to come in, others just give you the number for the midwife attached to the surgery so you can make a booking in appointment with them. This will take place at around 8weeks of pregnancy. They may do this in your own home or at a clinic. My husband came to mine with me so that we could both be involved and give information about both of our family medical histories. It's also a chance to ask any questions. She will probably give your wife a blood test, urine test and check her blood pressure at this appointment too.
6. What do all the abbreviations and acronyms mean in this thread?
Sorry to be a typical bloke not really knowing what the hell is going on… but I don’t!
Thank you all for any help you can offer me…

Hope this helps. A good book that I took out of the library is by Babycentre and Dorling Kindersley: pregnancy from conception to birth. Babycentre also have a good website too.

Morning ladies
Nice to see the list back, I did look for it a few weeks ago but I went back about 15 pages and couldn't find it!
Seem to have got morning sickness under control, as long as I remember to eat regularly I'm feeling much better. :j
Rang the endocrinologist clinic yesterday to chase up my appointment, as it's been 2 weeks since my blood test to check thyroid function, and they'd lost my referral  AFTER sending me a letter telling me to go for a blood test and they'd send me another appointment
The consultant did actually get my blood results, and I have to increase my thyroxine dose immediately. Will have to go for another blood test before the appointment, whenever that comes through. They don't seem to be particularly bothered by the fact that I'm already 9 weeks and the thyroxine levels are most important in the first 12 weeks before the baby's thryoid starts working  Fingers crossed the baby is taking what it needs and leaving me short, rather than the other way around.
Went into London yesterday, took MIL to the theatre for her birthday. We went into the Mamas and Papas shop while we were shopping, and I really like their maternity clothes. I've been looking at the ranges in various shops, although I haven't bought anything yet, and I really haven't been very impressed by the design/quality of anything I've seen so far, but the clothes in M&P were much nicer, and were actually things I'd want to wear :j Know where I'll be shopping when it's time!
This is a marathon post, hope everyone's feeling ok, and welcome to the newbiesLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Mamas and Papas is great for maternity wear. I've got a lovely pair of their jeans. Not cheap though. The only other place I've found where the clothes are half decent is Mothercare."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I went for a look in mothercare a few weeks ago, and I was really disappointed in the quality of the clothes. I tried on a few bits and the fabric was v thin on all of them.Don't know if it's just the summer range or something, but as my EDD is in november I want regular thickness clothes to last me until then!
I thought the M&P clothes weren't too bad pricewise, for the quality, especially as they had 3 for 2 on a lot of things in the store, and most of the dresses will be suitable for feeding after the birth.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
