Hello ladies :waves:
Love that video - thanks Kittenpie. It really is amazing what goes on inside our bodies :happyhear
Dizsiebubba - Try not to worry. I try to repeat the same sentences that I tried to help get me through TTC: Stressing will not effect the outcome of anything, just make it harder in the meantime, and nothing I do now will make any difference to the outcome (apart from obviously drink loads of alcohol or not look after myself, which obviously I am very careful). I think its a concern of everyone who is pregnant. Already I feel love for my ickle baby, and I can't see it or feel it yet. I have thought and planned things already, for both during pregnancy and when baby comes. I can't help but let the thoughts get carried away sometimes. I'm only 4+5, so a long way to go, but I've wanted this baby for over 2.5 years so its hard not to get carried away now that its happening.
I read some info on the statistics of miscarriage. 75% of women miscarry in weeks 1-2 of pregnancy (before you even know you are pregnant) 10% miscarry between 3-6 weeks of pregnancy, and 5% miscarry during weeks 6-12. The risk reduced further once you are in your second trimester. As you are beyond the 1-2 week mark, your odds are quite good.
Try to focus on the positive side, ie 90% chance everything will be ok, rising to 95% chance that things will be ok from week 6 onwards.
I know people say to try not to think about it until you have your scan etc, but in reality thats quite a while away, and you can't go worrying yourself every day until then.
I'm having the odd cramps too, but don't know if they are digestion related or what. I have also had odd bits of spotting. But everything seems to be going fine.
Littlemoog - yayy for the booking in appt. Am looking forward to mine - will seem more real then I think :j Boo for DH going away on the stag weekend.
Yayy for your midwife appt too MaddieHope it all goes well. Am waiting for my appt to come through the post. I keep eagerly checking once the postman has been, lol!
Congratulations on the scan moneypuddleI always want to call you muddy puddle - you can tell I've watched too much peppa pig in my time :rotfl:Have you told people already or will there be lots of announcements now?
Kavics, my b00bs are changing already. I went up 4 sizes with DD in one weekend last time shortly after my BFP. I was only slim back then, with smaller boobs. Am very much hoping they don't shoot up 4 sizes this time  Am starting to have an overspill I think already thoI also got really bad achiness last time in my b00bs but as soon as I went over to maternity bras the aching stopped. I think my maternity bras are a FF or G cup, so I was dreading going on wireless bras, but they were actually a million times comfier and more supportive than I thought they would be.
AFM, things are ok, plodding along. Think I may have to tell my boss (who is also my brother) as I work in a garage and the smell of petrol sent me off gagging and retching yesterday. Don't think I can pull that off for much longer without him noticing... He's away for a couple of days, and then I'm away, and then its Easter, so I will only see him 1 day next week. So might have to tell him after easter, will just see how it goes.
Am feeling so tired a lot of the time, but when I go to try and nap or go to bed early I am finding it hard to nod off. Think its cos so much is going round my head. I'm fine if I'm resting, but I feel really lazy just sitting down resting all the time. Dragged myself supermarket shopping last night tho before tea which was an error as I felt queasy and faint at times. Glad DH came with me as I would have probably had to abandon it if he hadn't been there.Married my lobster in July 2011

congrats on the scans Moneypuddle and Snowbean
I am absolutely ravenous today, had a fish finger sandwich, a babybel and 3 bits of fruit for lunch at 12, and I'm already starving againI was hoping to hold out til I got to my friends hen do tonight, but I'm going to have to have a snack. Maybe cheese on toast...
Need to make some salsa and a batch of chocolate brownies before I go, but there's a big heap of washing up to do first. Plus I am supposed to be working at home this afternoon, so will have to wait til I finish at 4.
I made a big pot of veggie chilli last night, and DH thinks I've overdone the chilli powderI'm weirdly immune to it, so can't tell when things get too hot. Hope it's not too much for people!
must go and do some work....Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
I'm working from home today too and hate it, work just seems so much harder to focus on when your out of the office. Just finished one thing so am allowing myself a quick break.
dizsie, sorry miscarriage is worrying youAfter trying for so long and hearing of other peoples losses I thought id be petrified, but strangely have been ok. I agree with the others, plan things to do leading up to your scan to help give something else to focus on and help the weeks pass quicker.
Are any of you guys using pregnancy trackers? I have the babycentre app on my phone which is great xProud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -
Ive been struck down with a cold this week. tried to rest as best I could but still all snotty and congested. Hope its not quickly morphed into hayfever early on
nice to see everyone is ticking along nicely. We got the letter for our scan in the post yesterdayOn a mission0 -
I have the "what to expect" app and the babybump app, the babycentre one doesn't work on my phone for some reason (android). I find the tone/wording on the what to expect one really irritating, but the info is good - I like the sizes of the baby week by week. This week mine's the size of a raspberry :smileyhea although reading that has caused DH to try and rasp me on the tummy at every opportunity. He says he's communing with our beanie! :rotfl:
The language used has put me off buying any of their books though! I also have a book called "Your Pregnancy week by week" by Dr Philippa Kaye, which I really like.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
I've got the Sprout app and it's really good, it shows pictures of what the baby looks like every week.
I got my scan last night, my dates only changed by one day so I'm now 10+1. Im on holiday at the end of next week so hopefully the next few weeks will fly in.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
Morning ladies and beanies
it's very quiet on here this weekend. Hope everyone's ok.
I've had a quiet weekend at home by myself, which has been lovely and restful. DH back tonight though, and I'm looking forward to seeing himoff shopping today to get my bra size checked at bravissimo.
Since my booking in appointment we've been tying to decide whether to have the nuchal translucency test at our scan. DH is quite keen, but I'm not so sure. I know that I wouldn't want amniocentesis, and I wouldn't terminate a down's baby. DH thinks we should have the screening anyway as it's most likely to be low risk and would set our minds at rest.
What are you guys doing about the screening?Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Morning ladies
Good news on the scan scottishchick :j Did you get a lovely photo? And you will have another scan to look forward to in a couple of weeks as well - yayyy :j
Littlemoog - I think its just down to you and your DH to decide between yourselves. When I was pregnant with DD, we decided not to have any tests done, as if the nuchal came back high risk, we may have felt like we should have the amnio test carried out - and regardless of the findings I wouldn't have been terminating. I have discussed with DH this morning, and still intend to do the same this time. I'm not particularly worried that anything will be wrong with beanie - so I don't need a test for reassurance. But it entirely depends on how you and DH feel about it. If you are worried then it may be a good idea to have the test or at least speak to the midwife about it all.
Lauradora - hope you are feeling better soon.
AFM - time seems to be dragging! Am only 5 weeks today. Feels like I have known about it for weeks and weeks. DH & I had a big discussion about telling DD, and we have agreed to tell her in 2 weeks if everything is still progressing fine. Feel a lot happier to have a date to work towards, as I hate keeping secrets and not involving her in things. Also said we would tell both sets of parents the week after too - so its nice to know we will be able to share the news with some people soon.Married my lobster in July 2011

We had the nuchal translucency test, my point of view is that ANY screening carries a risk of delivering you bad news (dating scan, urine dip at check-ups, blood pressure etc) it doesnt change the outcome of the pregnancy but will either give you peace of mind or enable you to be prepared for the next stage,
A few things we considered, it doesnt give a downs diagnosis, far from it and in many cases can give false indicators.
The test is just the first stage of checks to give an early as possible heads up, if your baby were to have Downs or another chromosome abnormality it will in all likely hood be picked up at the 20 week scan if not the 13 week one, so at some point in the pregnancy you will be faced with the dilemma again, the amnio is the only way to get a firm answer prior to birth.
My last screening came back at 1 in (just under) 60,000 - doesnt put me in the clear as they never can but doe give me some clue as to where we are at.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
We didn't have the screening done because I wouldn't have had an amnio and I wouldn't have aborted the baby had the baby had downs. I think it was Lisa who said what is the point in having half a test and half a result if your not actually going to act upon it.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
