Kavics regarding the pregnancy journal, Moon just brought home a pocket-sized diary for me to fill in - nothing big or special - I've just recorded appointments, what my pregnancy symptoms were before I found out, when I got my BFP and how we both felt, when I was sick (in case I decide to have another child and can't remember what my symptoms were etc), how my family took the news, how my mum felt when she came to my 6-week scan, how Moon and I felt and a quote from him on my 13-week scan, etc. You don't need anything fancy - it's useful also as I can track week by week how far along I am easily as it's a week-to-view. I was going to just get a pretty notebook, but it's easier having the dates written in. Can't wait to hear how you tell your DH and how he reacts when you do.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

He kept asking me last night if there was any significance to that I say 'us' and not 'I'. I denied it over the phone. Heavily.

I ordered the Thortons alphabet chocs, it says: 'Well, hello Daddy...#" and put a note saying that If I was going to get fat in the next couple of months than at least he should try too with these chocs. Hope he will get the message:).

For a journal, I've just started a scrap book that i got from paperchase. I've only done the first two double pages so far but the first page is called we're having a baby' and it has two diary entries from the 2nd Feb, one about me finding out, and the second about how I told OH. I've also put in some photos of OH and I, a photo of some glasses of champagne, some little boy/girl symbols, some photos of balloons and a photo of my positive test sat on our 'mummy and daddy love me' baby grow.

On the next double page spread I've called it 'telling family' and have put in a diary entry from the day I told them plus a nice quote about family, some baby footprints with 'the pitter patter of tiny feet' written underneath and some photos of my family and the grandparents boasting book I gave them.

So its kind of a diary but also a scrapbook for me to give to the baby when he/she is older.

    Ahhh that's lovely!
  • I heard the baby's heartbeat on my fetal monitor for the first time today and I'm so chuffed. :D. I've been trying most days for the last week but nothing but finally heard it today. I'm 9+3.

Aw, scottishchick that's so cool! What monitor do you have? I've been thinking of maybe getting one, but not really sure what to get.

    Aaaahh, scottischick, that is awesome!
  • scottishchick - That is brilliant!

I've got my scan+booking appointment tomorrow afternoon. I've gone from excited to worried after reading about possible birth defects. I wish I hadn't now... I'm sure mw will reassure me tomorrow.

    hi

scottishchick- thats brilliant you managed to hear your babys heartbeat, bet that was a lovely experience.

i rented one from ebay before for a month, (you just send it back after a month or keep it longer if you need it) i figured it would be cheaper than buying one completely but i mc before i managed to use it, but if anyone wants to try rather than buy that might be option to rent.

i thought it was something like 10/11 weeks though before you could hear a heartbeat though so to hear it at 9+ scottishchick, that must be very lucky.

Not sure if i would use them this time though, its just another toy to drive myself mad, trying to keep myself busy until about 7/8 weeks when i'll push for an early scan (because of the molar) and hopefully we will be able to see a heart beat then and just take it in stages.

bikelesschick- good luck for your scan and your booking in appointment tomorrow, what scan have you got? how many weeks are you?
Try not to worry about birth defects, i know its hard with the internet but like you said hopefully your midwife will be cool and calm and reassure you. Let us know how it goes.
