you've also got the options of your doing a new diet - weight watchers, slimming world, etc and don't have enough syns/points left for alcohol so will just have a diet lemonade please.

    Your detoxing.

You've got plans the next day and can't have a hangover.

Your driving? - not a possibility for everyone admittedly.

you've given booze up for lent and someone at work has bet you that you can't last and you're a stubborn sod and don't want to lose.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

What are you ladies doing for your hen weekends, do all the hens already know?

We're going canal boating tomorrow afternoon, which is a surprise for the hen. We're going in fancy dress as sailors, and there'll be games, cakes and drinks, plus a surprise organised by the bridesmaids.

Saturday we're going to the spa, and then having a big night out with the theme "glam it up". May treat myself to a manicure and pedicure, I've never had one before, and it's the only treatment that's suitable in the first trimester. :D

Really looking forward to it, I rang the hen last night and told her I'm pg, didn't want to make a big deal of it over the weekend, but I knew there was no way I'd get away with not drinking at all. Will relax a little after 12 weeks (as in 1 glass of wine 1/2 times a week), but up until then I don't want to have anything at all.

littlemoog......take a hanky or a tissue with something nice smelling on it....perfume or a safe essential oil (not sure which are during pg!) that way if someone has a whiffy sandwich or something you can whip ur nice smelling tissue/hanky out to stop the smell making u feel icky and it'll making u concentrate on ur breathing which will help a bit too x
  • I'm feeling fairly normal today....I do find that pregnacare upset my tummy though....so much for digestion slowing down!!

I've started clearing out the spare room....v early I know. It's painted already as we ear marked the room as potential baby room a while back and painted it bright yellow. I might get some wall stickers to jazz it up a bit.

just got a question, wondering if anyone can give any advice.
We havent told any of our family and ive got a big family meal coming up where normally i would have something to drink but wont be at this one.

Not sure how i can get around the not drinking, normally people buy one another rounds and i think people will question why im not drinking, im thinking maybe something like antibiotics? ive got more family birthdays coming up before the 12 week mark so going to have to think about those as well, i hate not saying but i know its the right thing at the minute.

Temporarily, it's the antibiotics excuse all the way. If any smart arse says you can drink on antibiotics (you can on most) tell them you're on metronidazole - you definitely can't drink on that one. It's commonly prescribed for gum infections and bacterial vaginosis so take your pick as to whether you fancy pretending you've got a smelly fanny or smelly breath :D

In the longer term, your family will twig if you keep off the booze.

Thanks Cleofish, I think the cramps are easing now. But the extreme tiredness are kicking in slowly, I was in bed by 8.30 last night, I was so tired. I'm not planning anything for the weekend, just want to get rest and finish the assignment.

thanks everyone for the ideas to get around the drinking in front of family, i used to take the antibiotics that can make you sick when you drink when my wisdom teeth play up and my family know i have problems with my wisdom teeth so i think i might go with that, i am hoping i can keep it quiet until at least 12 wks and until i have had a good scan anyway.. we shall see.

littlemoog- your hen do sounds really fun with canal boats, hoping you have a good weekend for it, its lovely and sunny here this morning.

kavics17- hoping your assignment goes quick as well, the tiredness part is the worst i found last time i just didnt have the energy to do much.

im starting to have a little bit of sickness, cooking smells make me feel queazy and still having the headaches in late afternoon/evening but im going to try and plan my meals for the week today and maybe bulk cook some healthy meals, well thats the plan anyway.

hoping everyone has a good friday and weekend.:T

I'm using the antibiotics thing but with the toothache excuse because I can use it over and over again. I can have a tooth infected that can't be treated at the minute until it gets better so it need the tablets. Then it'll get better so I won't go back to the dentist until it gets infected again and I need another course of antibiotics, etc;)

As for the hen, I don't actually know! All I know is that I have to be in Manchester on Saturday morning! I've sent a message this morning to see if I can get any more info. Not very organised I know... littlemoog's sound a lot more organised (and fun!) than mine at the mo.

Ilovecushions - you mentioned pregnacare is upsetting your tummy? How odd!

I'm not taking anything apart from the folic acid. What are the others doing?

I've got my scan on Monday afternoon:j

  • When I spoke to midwife on the phone she said we should take vit D too as thats the latest guideance, so I'm on the pregnacare.
I'm not sure if that's that upsetting my tummy but I remember taking it for a short while while ttc and it making me feel icky.

I took pregnacare last time and it made me sick. Was fine when I stopped. This time I just stuck to the folic acid which midwife recommended. Plus the Pregnacare are huge.
