Congratulations cleofish and welcome to the thread. Everyone here is lovely too - there are a few people on here from ttc, and a few that are on the next or main pregnancy threads who pop in and give really useful advice too. I suppose I ought to head over to the 12-24 weeks thread now. Will pop in tonight and introduce myself. Really hope your pregnancy goes well this time.

Hi cleofish! Welcome onboard! I'm sorry you've had some bad experiences in the past. I can appreciate why may want to delay all scans and testings. I can't say I wouldn't be the same if I were you. I hope all goes well for you this time though:):jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0

My advice is: drink as much as you think you will be able to handle. My letter said it has to be at least half a pint an hour before the scan but it really doesn't need to be that much.
From my experience:
- scan 1 (8wks, emergency) - I didn't know I was supposed to drink and my bladder was totally empty. I normally don't drink a lot so only had about half a cup of tea that morning. The sonographer managed to find the baby no problem.
- scan 2 (12wks) - I drank a lot and thought my bladder is going to burst. After the first few minutes of the scan I was wondering how I'm going to manage without peeing myself when the sonographer told me my bladder is too full and so the picture is unclear and that I should go an empty it completely.
- scan 3 (20wks) - again, I drank but not as much as for the second scan. For some reason (anxiety?) I constantly needed to pee and went to the bathroom probably about 5 times before the scan!!! As it turned out I needed to go after the scan as well so must've left something in there despite so many toilet trips.0 -
I agree sillymoo, at the first scan with ds1 i took the advice to heart and drank like a fish, it was agony so with each subsequent scan Ive peed before leaving home and downed a pint of water on my way to the scan. Ive always been fine and been told my bladder looked full, i still find it really uncomfortable though and wince my whole way through !Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

I've got my booking in appointment tomorrow, I hope they give me my scan date then too. I hope I remember to take my pee sample in the morning.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

For those of you who aren't telling anybody... how are you holding out? I've known since saturday morning so 3 days so far and apart from telling OH we have only told a couple that we are both close to so that he can confide in the husband and i can confide in the wife. I just want to tell everybody, but my family are so superstitious! x:jBaby Boy born December 2012

It's interesting about scans and full vs empty bladder. For my 12 week scan I was advised to come with an empty bladder, but I can see that others have been advised differently. Odd."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble at work littlemoog - pleased the ranatidine has sorted you out - I'm off to the doctor this afternoon to hopefully get something prescribed as I'm getting so fed up with this heartburn - it doesn't even seem to matter what I eat - it's constant at the moment.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
