Congratulations on your scan Candycane.

Mishka I'm sorry to hear you had some worries based on your scan - it sounds like your hospital are a bit incompetant - wasn't it you who was meant to be scanned earlier rather than later too due to your previous miscarriage? I would definitely compain if you haven't already. I don't think the way you've been treated has been fair, and at the very least, it wasn't professional! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the blood test results come back ok. Did they tell you how long you'll have to wait for these? Sending massive hugs to you! xxx

My scan is on Monday, and I'm looking forward to it, but also apprehensive too. I seem to have got quite a bit bigger around my tummy just in the last week, and now even my biggest trousers (put them on for work today) are extremely uncomfortable if I try to do them up. I've got chronic heartburn and wind, but unfortunately was working all day today, so haven't been able to get to the doctor's about it all yet. I think I may also have a virus as my throat was so sore last night that I could hardly swallow, and had to send Moon next door to the MIL's for some ice-cream to help soothe it (she always has some in her freezer). Honestly, it wasn't just an excuse! lol

I'm hoping to get an early night tonight, as this week, the tiredness has really started to hit me - don't know why it's only hitting this week though. I think the fact that it's getting lighter earlier in the mornings may have something to do with it too.

Well I'm off to try and find a small snack to eat, and then have a lie-down for a bit, as I'm freezing cold again and want to curl up under the covers. Wonder if I can persuade the cat to come and join me (natural hot water bottle).

we were - i thought - going to have earlier monitoring due to the Edwards syndrome that was detected in last septembers pregnancy. That didnt happen and as it turns out with hindsight im quite glad i didnt have the worry i do now earlier on.

The specialist was pretty unhappy about yesterdays mess up - he has even written it into my notes so there is no need for me to voice a complaint myself ! That being said the whole process is so delayed for everyone that they probably wont see that much wrong with it, a couple we spoke to yesterday had been there for 2 and a half hours. Thats with having a scan, a clinic check up and then bloods. They seem to book 20 people all for the same hour slot with 2 sonographers in the department - seems a rubbish practice to me but there we go !

I feel your pain with the heartburn etc i suffered so badly with my first I used to sit and sob, when my husband harps on about how the 16 year old girl he works with is sailing through her pregnancy with no problems what so ever I want to bash his head in :rotfl:

Lalaland, sorry you didn't get any answers from the staff, rubbish that they didn't explain fingers crossed for your bloods on Sunday

I've developed acid reflux today, it's horrid! Feel like I've spent all day throwing up, my throat is so sore and acidy. DH just back from Tesco with gaviscon for me, hope that will help.

Rang the gp yesterday to chase up my endocrinologist referral, spoke to same gp who was still rubbish and doesn't seem to feel any sense of urgency about it. I don't understand why she wouldn't just follow the guidance and increase my dose while waiting for referral. It's been 2 weeks and I don't have an appointment yet, and god knows how long the waiting list is! Grrr!

6 weeks tomorrow, hopefully only 6 weeks to wait for the scan now :j

Hi all,

I'm 8+5 at the moment with my 2nd. My 'booking in appointment' with midwife is not until 13.04.12 and 1st scan is 17.04.12 - I'm thinking this is a bit on the late side.
With my first midwife came out to me at home about 6 weeks in and had scan at 11+4.

Any ideas if this is right or not? I asked for earlier appointment and they said these dates were fine.

The booking in doesn't seem too bad, I didn't book until about 16 weeks with no 2, but I thought the scan needed to be before 13 weeks to do the nuchal fold measurements? Will your date be before 13 weeks?

Am currently feeling like I've been hit by a truck with exhaustion and I've got 3 massively busy weeks at work ahead... Then 2 weeks holiday yay!

Went out for dinner last night with my family (late birthday/early Mother's Day meal for my Mum), and ate a bowl of soup, as I couldn't face any more than that. Had a really sore throat on Thursday night, and think I may have a bit of tonsillitis, as I was sick yesterday, and haven't been sick for nearly 2 weeks with the baby. I got home, and promptly threw up all of my dinner, and have a really bad headache this morning. I've managed a yoghurt and a nesquick so far, but still don't feel up to eating much. Moon gone out shooting, and cat out in the garden, so all by my own. I really hope I feel better tomorrow for my scan.

Well I'm off to go and get some more water and see if I can rehydrate myself.

hi 30_something, I think I read in the booklet I was given about tests that they can do the nuchal scan any time up until 13+6?

Mine all feels like it's happening quite late as well. I'm 11+1 today, only had half of my booking in appointment (last week), got the other half this fri when I'll be 11+6 and still waiting on my scan date coming in the post :cool:

Mishka, sorry to see you had a rubbish time at your scan...fingers crossed you get some more positive news soon.
