shell_girl, that's not right, definitely complain to the third party company as that is a breach of confidence and should be treated as such, especially as you specifically asked for it to be kept confidential.

Speak to ACAS if you have any concerns regarding your job.

    Glad you're ok Fishcake.

I turned up at the docs for my first appointment (which has been rearranged once) to find out they had to rearrange it again - was not impressed since I had to take time off work in the first place. So now first appointment is Monday when I will be 8+1. Grrr. I just want to see someone so it feels more real - at the minute I feel like I've got a stomach bug.

That's really bad that they didn't let you know. I know it's weird not being able to see anyone but 8-10 weeks is usually the norm before you get to see the midwife. I understand your frustration though.

    Glad you're feeling better fishcake

Shell girl that's terrible what the hr people did. I would definitely complain. I also agree about speaking to someone to get some advice. Have you go any emails or correspondence that suggests your job is unlikely to be at threat? If you have keep that, also keep a note of the time and date that you had the conversation with your boss regarding your sickness.

  • Morning ladies.

Shell_girl, without a shadow of doubt I would be reporting this to someone. Maybe your HR department? Lodge a formal complaint, as they will then have this on record if anything does come of it. Make sure if you do put in a complaint that you have a witness with you, as if the company did try anything at least you would have someone in your corner. Definately make sure you speak to someone though as they are breaking some sort of confidentiality law. Thta is horrendous that someone has done that, mistake or not, I would be fuming!!! Hope you get it sorted out :D

I am not feeling pregnant at the minute, so cannot wait for the scan to see if everything is ok. I seem to not feel any different than normal, which I hope is not a bad sign, fingers crossed.
The only part of me that does feel pregnant is the fact that I have MAJOR constipation, haha.

How is everyone feeling today? Hope you all have a lovely day.

Don't get me wrong, he was really really nice, but we're going through a restructure that won't be finalised until April. If he tells his line manager, then I'm pretty sure my job will suddenly be under consultation and not needed after April. :(

Just de-lurking from the main PG thread to offer some advice! Only a VERY brave company would try to make a pregnant lady redundant! They will be terrified of you saying that its due to being pregnant and taking legal action so you're probably safer now than ever! I applied for voluntary redundancy and my HR manager was so scared of what the come back might be that she said I couldn't have it because I was pregnant. Luckily a chat with another HR manager (huge company so lots of them!) and a comment that I was volunteering so saying no due to pregnancy was discrimination changed their minds and I will now be made redundant when I start my maternity leave.

shell_girl that's terrible!!! I can't believe that some has breached your confidentiality like that. As others have said you should make a complaint as soon as possible. Your manager does sound lovely though.

Hayley - I also have the constipation thing. Plus wind, nausea and bloating. How glamorous this pregnancy malarky is!

I told a few people at my work this week and they've been so lovely and supportive I'm glad I did. I really want to tell everyone else now. I know people say to wait until after the 12 week scan but I'm finding it very difficult to keep it in. DH "accidentally" told three of his colleagues yesterday too. He's just so excited, bless him. The way we see it though is if the worst were to happen (which it won't, I'm being positive) we'd have lots and lots of support. And we wouldn't be able to hide from the people around us that something was wrong anyway.

I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon. And we're going to see about getting a new car this weekend. My current car is 10 years old and DH's is far too small for putting a child seat in the back so we're going to swap both of them and get a bigger, more family friendly one which we'll share. DH rides a motorbike too so he can use that whenever I need the car and it will save us paying out extra insurance, tax and maintenance costs for a second car. I'm excited about it all but a bit sad to see my old faithful go as I had it from brand new so it's been with me for a long time!

Anyway, I hope everyone is feeling well today. Have a good day all.

    Hey all,

Just spoke to our midwife and have our scan for the 16th February so not as long to wait as I thought. Will be about 10 weeks then. Nervous but just want to find out if everything is ok?
