It's called a missed miscarriage. Sometimes you start to miscarry naturally like I did (I had a scan because I was bleeding) and sometimes you get to your 12 week scan before you find out. Then you choose between seeing if your body will miscarry naturally (often it will once you know what's happened) or if you want a procedure to remove the baby and womb contents.

I have never had many symptoms when pregnant, this is the first time I've felt sick when pregnant, and my boobs didn;t feel sore with my missed miscarriage because I am breastfeeding DD and that seems to stop me from getting sore boobs (I had sore boobs with first two pregnancies).

I think some women do continue to have symptoms - a friend had a missed miscarriage a few weeks before mine, and she had all her symptoms.

It is scary, but then around a quarter of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, most of which will be early miscarriages (before 12 weeks) so it's not uncommon.

There is nothing you can do to cause or prevent it, except maybe take folic acid (both my miscarriages I started taking it late, once I found out I was PG instead of while TTC) because folic acid helps the baby in its early development. Six weeks is a crucial time because that is when it goes from potential life to actual life, in terms of a heartbeat and the spine 'zipping up'.

If you google miscarriage and missed miscarriage you will get a lot of information, but don't scare yourself!

Thank you so much for explaining this to me, it can't have been easy but I really do appreciate it. There is so much to learn about pregnancy, getting your BFP is just the start!!

All the best for Friday xx

Congrats on moving to the next thread Emsbet, all being well I shall see you there in 3 weeks :)

    to the new ladies

So I finally took the plunge and bought a coat. After speaking to my sister and best friend, who've both had April babies, I've picked a thinner coat I can wear layers under as they said that I would probably get too hot in a proper thick winter coat. I hope they are right because if it snows again this winter and I'm not warmer than normal, I'm going to freeze! :)

I bought this one it's not as nice as the others but it's ok and has a drawstring middle so hopefully I'll be able to wear it all the way through pregnancy and after baby is born :)

    xx

When buying maternity clothes like this, go through an affiliate site rather than going directly to the merchant and you'll get better savings but you still place your order with the end merchant. I should know, since having my kids I've built a maternity clothes site (simplymaternitycouk) and get loads of discount vouchers for maternity clothes. You really don't have to pay full price for anything usually.

    Hi all,

Been to the docs, have a UTI so cranberry juice and antibiotics for me, at least now when I say I'm not drinking cos I'm on medication it's only a half lie! Booking in appointment is finally in the diary for Tuesday, and like you B-J-D this weekend I'm headed for M&S to get some new bras as I'm feeling top heavy!

Am going back to zumba tonight, but to a low impact class and I'm just going to take it very easy, I need the endorphin boost but not the jumping and twisting, so I'll be at the back with the new folks for a few weeks at least until I can get back to my pilates classes, a friend has recommended pregnancy yoga but I'm not that flexible!
  • Hi preggos!

I took one whiff of my lunch and that was it, it was fishy though so that probably didn't help!
How was your booking appt BJD? Can't wait for mine. You must be very excited for your scan :) Was your booking appt late (mine's in week 9) or your scan an early one?
Yes, my boobs are ridiculous, I was hoping this would get better, but I guess not.
So excited to be at week 6 next week.
Non-vomiting wishes to you all x

Hi everyone! I had my early 8 week scan today and was very pleased to know bean was fine! Dh had tears in his eyes when he saw the heartbeat flickering on the screen. I can upload a pic if anyone is interested.
