What's it about?
Back in July 06 Bailey started this thread to help all pregnant MoneySavers and their partners save on anything pregnancy-related plus give each other moral support. It's been hugely popular and now has a long list of pregnant mothers-to-be. Now it's not just for those that are pregnant but also those trying to conceive and MoneySavers that have probably already given birth and yet are probably too tired to let everyone know.
What should you do?
As well as being a great source of tips, baby-related bargains spotted, mutual support and help MoneySavers here have also gradually built up a list, adding themselves to one of these categories (the last one, people are moved to for obvious reasons!):
Also please don't forget that this is a public forum and anyone could be reading it. Don't let this put you off discussing anything personal, just please be aware that the people posting on the thread may not be the only ones reading (it may just be that these people, aka lurkers, are too shy to post). Now enjoy your pg natter

- EDD (Estimated due date if you're pregnant)
- TTC (trying to conceive if you're not) we now have 2 seperate threads for people TTC - 'Trying for a Baby' and 'Trying for a baby (12+ M/not straightforward)'
- Birth List
- Probably given birth but too worn out to log on list
- Click on the link at the top of this page that says "Last" (it'll take you to the last page of the discussion)
- Scroll down until you find the message with the very latest copy of the list in (if you use one further up the discussion other peoples' changes after that will be lost)
- Copy that (highlight it and click control+c)
- Click reply at the bottom of the thread to open a screen where you can past it (click control+p)

Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts. This includes posting links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.

MEDICAL ADVICE
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com
CODES/VOUCHERS:
For legal reasons codes are only permitted on the Discount Codes n Vouchers (Online and Offline) Board and must be sourced and indicated who it refers to. If in doubt please read this and this for an explanation. Any posts not meeting these rules will be moved. Do not pm others requesting such codes
FREE TO JOIN BABY CLUBS:
Tesco Baby Club - Free Pampers Hamper containing a few wipes, nappy sample, some Olay stuff. You need to buy a pack of Pampers to get it, and it's not stocked in every store so check before you set off.
Boots Parenting Club - Free changing bag when you buy a pack of nappies, I think it's Huggies but it might be Pampers. You need to wait for the voucher to arrive.
Sainsburys Little Ones - Free Mum and Baby bundle with toiletries, to be collected from store.
Emma's Diary - You should get the vouchers in the pack from your midwife but if you don't or you want more freebies you can also register and download them here. 3 bags containing lots of samples and a can of Peartiser.
Cow and Gate - You get a free cuddly cow but you need to find a code, these are normally in Parenting mags so either have a look in the shop or on the Discount Codes board.
Aptamil - Free cuddly polar bear.
Those are probably the main ones but have a look around as other places will send out vouchers, nappy samples etc. Also most of these will send you a voucher for money off nappies/wipes so keep an eye out for offers, I got 6 packs of Pampers Sensitive wipes for £1.66 with the £2 off voucher that came in my Bounty pack.

Hi new thread!0 -
Hello to the new thread
I went to have the nuchal scan yesterday, and while I was there had to see the consultant because of my blood pressure and so on. The scan went very well, although he/she was asleep to begin with and I had to do some shuffling about to get baby to move into a better positionBaby then decided to wake up and not stop moving, even scratched his head then had a stretch (very cute moment to see). Got a decent scan photo this time around, just need to get my scanner to work now so i can share it with people.
All was going well untill i saw the consultant (well i say 'the' when i see someone different each time) and my bp was higer then it should have and i am asked the usual million questions that really annoy me as they have my notes infront of them and can't seem to be bothered to look at them! They want to increase my meds again, but i refused straight away as i know i was stressed at seeing yet another new person who bombarded me with questions while my bp was being taken, when it's in my notes that i have white coat syndrome and need time to relax before having it done.
So my midwife is coming to my house tomorrow, to have a chat with me and to take my bp when i'm more relaxed.
I had all of this last time I was pregnant, only part I hate now-getting my bp checked and people fussing and making me worry/stress!
Anyway-I hope everyone else is ok
keely.Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -
Keely consultant care can be a bit rubbish can't it? Sometimes it would be nice to see the same person twice, or have someone even know why you are there because half the time you have to tell them anyway.
There is a consultant here with an absolutely unpronouncable name, who is very rude and last time she gave me a sweep without asking me. I am refusing to be examined by her this time, she can get another MW to examine me, but she's not getting within 5 foot of me
On the other hand one of the emergency consultants in our hospital (not maternity) is fantastic, when I was admitted via A&E less than a week after my last hospital visit I was in a bed not far from the desk and I heard him completely disregard the order the ward wanted it done in and insist on seeing me first (I think they wanted me to be last as I am under 92 unlike all the other patients and therefore had more time to hang about) :rotfl:
Oh I have my 12 week scan today :j
Has been lovely to hear about all the new arrivals lately. We need more birth stories though!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Thanks for the shiney new thread Apricot!
My SPD pain has been exceptionally chronic for the past few days, haven't slept a wink and its really dragging me downI've got so much motivation to crack on and get things done but I just can't get past the pain! Little man is moving loads though which is fab
and I decided that I am going to take part in that clinical trial I mentioned a while back so I have an appointment with the research midwives on Friday.
Hope everyone is doing well and huge labour vibes to the boldies0
