Yes :) I found one in Card Factory, there were 2 choices that I could find. One said from the bump and the other something about enjoy your next little project with a robot on front lol. Im sure Clintons would have one too as they had the mother-to-be cards, may be worth a look?

Need motivation today :o have done nothing but laze in bed reading since I got up! Oops.. missing home and away, guess I just found my motivation :rotfl:

I got a 'dad-to-be' card from Clintons ... had a cute verse about sleepless nights and stuff :D They had 2 to choose from, but it's not a very big shop so larger stores may have more choice.

I need more food... I think I am a locust....

I don't think such links are scaremongering.. think of it as passing on info to enable you to make an informed decision... though if you read it the groups used were very very small.. about 1000 in each IIRC. We all know miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death and birth defects happen and while we like to hide ourselves from these things and convince ourselves they will never happen to us we al know there is that possibility. However, there was also some research done a few months ao which showed that the rates of stillbirth and neonatal death in the UK were massively higher than in other parts of the world where they have more frequent checks and screening so the chances are bits of research like this are at best barely noted yet pushed in our faces because the overall level of care is so crap in many areas so this is used as a cover-up for the overall shoddy service we get.

I wonder if I'm the only person who doesn't love feeling my baby move :o I've always been a bit funny about pregnant ladies' bumps and the thought that there's something living in there and had hoped that being pregnant myself it would all make sense and seem normal but I think it freaks me out even more that it's my tummy.!It's not that I don't like it, it just seems completely weird. Maybe I'm just weird. Sometimes feel a bit guilty and sad that I should be embracing and in love with the whole thing when I'm not, I just want to reach the end.
Nope - it's not just you! So many people have said to me "oh, i loved being pregant, enjoy it!" I also feel that I'm odd for not especially enjoying being permanently tired yet not being able to sleep, ever increasing in size, having regular heartburn/indigestion, having to pee constantly and then every so often a little fiesta starts up in my insides which just feels plain weird... I enjoy the concept of being pregnant and I'm very much looking foward to the end product, but in the meantime, i can't honestly say that I'm *enjoying* myself... no...

Are you a squeamish first time expectant mother?

I most definitely was! I gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Monday morning.

I frequently lurked around this thread but didn't participate as, even the thought of giving birth made me feel ill. Throughout my third semester I had vivid nightmares about the actual birth. I was delighted to be pregnant and looked forward to being a mother but the actual labour bit seriously freaked me out. Can you tell I have an extremely low pain thresh hold and have never been in hospital before?

I was extra stressed by the fact that I'm currently living in Madrid and my Spanish isn't that great yet.

Anyways - my point in writing this is to let you all first time mums to be know that, actually, it's absolutely fine! Remember that in hospital you have direct access to fantastic experienced doctors/midwives etc with all the facilities you and your baby need.

Looking back I can't believe I got so freaked out by it.....

    I want to cry :(

Just been to the midwife and my usual one was on holiday. This one was lovely though, really really nice. Anyway, I am anaemic so need iron tablets, have thrush and tested positive for Group B Strep :(:(:(

Just so fed up now as even without any further rise in my antibody levels, which I might get tomorrow when I see my consultant, I have a 48hr stay in hospital guaranteed and antibiotics on drip through labour :(

I can't believe how many problems I've had this pregnancy. I'm thinking I might mention the induction word tomorrow afterall and see what they think about giving me a date.

On the plus side, the midwife measured me at 36 weeks (I'm 38 on Saturday) and said she doesn't see why the consultant was concerned over the growth. She said perhaps they are being over-cautious because of my antibodies, as they don't come across people 'like me' very often and it tends to send them into a panic.

Better go and start my iron tablets :(

Just ordered a load of sheets etc for baby from Vertbaudet using the £15 off a £20 spend code, so am getting there with all the bits we need ;)

What a great idea! Hadn't even thought of using it for sheets so thank you!

Have been lurking a while so thought I best introduce myself to you lovely ladies given I am benefitting from all your tips!

I'm due 13th September with my first baby and am on team pink. All going well so far except gestatational diabetes but so far I've been managing it ok with diet so fingers crossed I can stay that way!

Is anyone doing a "From the Bump" fathers day card? If so have you had any joy finding one?

Sorry to hear OH didn't pass Little Angel :(

Card factory do, for less than £1 and they don't look rubbish either :)

They do indeed. I work there so as soon as they came in I was going through them looking for one :rotfl: I work in a pretty big store and we have about 7 different designs, but I know some of the smaller shops only have 1 or 2.

Congrats PinklipGloss and hope all is going well with bubs over there!

Welcome Bunnyhop, and congrats on team pink...

Missy76 what is the Verbaudet code please as that sounds like a good deal for sheets?
    .
MrS sorry to hear that, what a pain, bet you were so annoyed and can understand you are despondent, I would be too. Can you avoid taking the iron tabs at all, and stock up on beef / lentils / dried apricots? I felt so awful on the tablets, I'd recommend steering clear of them unless you really, really have to - mind you my results were just over borderline.

Had midwife app and all is good, he's measuring 35 cm at 34 weeks and strong heartbeat, plus is still head down so will hopefully stay that way...

    Evening :)

My midwife came to my home this afternoon to check my bp and to have a chat, I'm glad to say my bp was relatively fine :) and she's so lovely she puts me at ease. She was here for almost an hour chatting to me about my concerns/worries and general things. She is going to contact the consultant to tell him not to worry so much about me, and that white coat syndrome does exist and she is now going to see me twice weekly in my home for bp checks as she feels this is a true reflection of what my bp is like normally.

So i'm feeling a lot more positive now :)

(just got to deal with my lovely neighbour now).

    keely.
