BSC - Sorry to hear that you are feeling so low :( I know how horrible it is to just stop taking your meds. My pregnancy was not planned and as my GP told me there wasnt enough research behind the anti-depressants I was on, I stopped taking them cold turkey. The first few weeks were so hard, touch wood I have been ok since, but I still have low days.
We're all here to chat or moan if you need to!

Pigpen - that was the sort of colour I was thinking but OH wants to make it more 'boyish'.

Where is everyone planning on buying their bedding for the nursery from?

MrsS ... You can have a mobile IV so you can still walk about in labour.. just be firm and insist on what you want ... the hospital are providing a service for you.. you are not doing them the favour!!

I was wondering about this .... I really don't think being bed-bound hooked up to an IV drip is going to be good for my SPD, and I really wanted to be able to stay as active as possible during labour.

Thrush.. try to reduce your sugar intake, keep the nethers cool and dry.. cotton undies and if necessary change them a couple of times a day. There are homeopathic things you can try which are very good... I can't remember what it is without getting up.. I have some in the fridge.. I'll edit it in next time I remember. They've given me a pessary and some cream. I've popped the pessary in, but don't need the cream as I've no thrush symptoms like itching or anything.

    Anaemia
.. I can't take any tabets/liquids etc... ask them about the injections.. TBH it takes weeks to have any effect on your Hb and it is the serum ferritin that is a proper indicator of anaemia as this is the store of iron your body has, if this is low you are actually anaemic if it is within normal ranges the chances are within days of delivery your body will get your Hb back to a normal level. Mine went from 8.1-9 in about 8 hours after I had squeak.

They've given me some tablets of ferrous fumerate (sp?) rather than ferrous sulphate which I have had previously (not in this pregnancy though). Not sure what the difference is. I've got two values, one which is my Hb level and one which is MCV level.

I think I'm more worried about whether the anaemia will make the baby anaemic, given that the antibodies already run the risk of making the baby anaemic as it is. The strep B thing I've had before, so it's not a huge shock to have it again, I just rather hoped I would avoid it.

Anyway, we'll see what tomorrow brings at the hospital.

ETA: I should add that I always suffer with anaemia during pregnancy and post delivery, and have suffered between pregnancies too and had investigations for possible causes. They never got to the bottom of why I am anaemic. I guess that's why they're shoving iron tablets at me!

I got Squeaks bedding from Mothercare and Dots from M&P with 75% off.. :D

You could get a border or stickers with cars or soldiers or jungle theme rather than fairies.. i am sure that would be more boyish! lol a Cream would go with the green too so bedding could be earthy colours (think autumn leaves and squirrels) and pulled together with curtains/lightshades

Mrs S.. the baby will NOT be anaemic!!! I promise you. It's own marrow will be making blood happily and the reason your levels get low is because the baby gets it first. The baby takes extra iron in the last few weeks of pregnancy to build a store so for the first 6 months when nature says it will be exclusively breastfed it uses up those stores to make new red blood cells... this is why many babies are showing sins of anaemia by a year old because they don't get enough iron in their diet once these stores are depleted. I can promise you your baby will not be anaemic at all! Your blood gets more fluid in it at the end of pregnancy so while blood tests may indicate anaemia once the baby is out the extra fluid goes very quickly and your Hb increases..

I've gone for the Little Puppy range from Next. We live in a rented house too, but the carpet is blue and the walls are plain cream so it was easy enough to co-ordinate with. They have some wall stickers that match, but I haven't bothered with them as the wall paper is blown vinyl and I wasn't sure whether they would stick. I bought the matching wall canvas instead so it doesn't look so bare.

  • Thanks for the welcome ladies :D
Is anyone doing a "From the Bump" fathers day card? If so have you had any joy finding one?

I got one from Birthdays which says 'Daddy to be' on it. I also got him a baby suit from Next which says 'I love my daddy' and some other bits and bobs.

Thanks for the post on the still birth research, can't remember who posted it. Personally I'm bu&&ered as I tend to sleep on my right mostly, although I know I turn back and forth during the night. A strange thing happened last night, I woke up with such a fright lying on my back and I had the wierdest feeling that I hadn't been breathing just before I woke

I too am not 'enjoying' the being preganant, which is hugely disappointing after waiting so long to be in this position. In my mind I always thought I would love being pg. However for the past 7 weeks I've had horrible all day sickness which the GP gave me medication for (which if you take you are more likely to have a MC according to research into MS recently). I feel like I've got a constant bad hangover with dizziness, headaches and fatigue. My tiredness is so bad I've been on half days at work for the past 3 weeks and I sleep every afternoon for 2-3 hours. 3 weeks ago I started with a head cold and congested sinuses which was agony, that has finally gone and today I've been back to the GP because of chest pains and I now have a chest infection. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever feel like I'm 'blooming'. I just keep thinking roll on December, and all my friends say 'oh you should make the most of being pregnant, I loved it!' :o

Anyway enough of my moaning, I'm off to watch OBEM USA!

I never thought to look in Next, will have to look there.

I like the sound of your idea Pigpen, I am quite a fan of the more earthy colours and that would tie in nicely with the carpet, will have to see what I can find!

  • Thanks guys, I feel a little bit better just for telling someone & i'm sure i'll feel much better after a decent nights sleep.

I have an appontment to see the midwife Wednesday & an appintment at the aau Thursday plus i'm seeing my GP on the 28th so maybe she might put me back on my meds.

I've been on them on & off for 12 years but she took me off them as she wasn't convnced that they were making enough difference to risk taking them during my pregnancy.

I only have 5 weeks left then hopefully i'll be ok when Harrison is here.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

well after wanting every design from next ,lol. i decided to stick with the same desing as i had with last baby. the i love my baby range from Babies r us. i really love it.

but i found some really nice material so i started to make my own. i've made baby a play mat / cot quilt. and i'm going to make a mobile later on.

babies room is very simple and chilled out. i like nice calm realxing rooms for babies. he has cream walls and carpet. with a cream blind. then pine cot , drawers and shelfs. then on the shelfs i have a coupld of blue teddies. it s working progress.

heres the quilt i made baby.

    babiesquilt001.jpg
    babiesquilt002.jpg
and i made a felt hanger thingy
    craftmakes008.jpg

    i'm getting there, slowly.

Well baby hasn't been moving as much today, but wow the braxton hicks have been strong. not had too many which has been good tho. baby usually gets hiccups in the evening, so i'm sure we shall have a dose of that later on,lol.

hubby still on nights so going to do some more crocheting in a bitbut i'm nearly out of wool. trip to town in the morning i think. kids want to go to breakfast club and my dd loves going to wake up and shake up in the mornign. so an early start for us.

Sorry you've been feeling so crappy. I've felt low on and off for the past few weeks, and then I feel guilty for feeling so low when I should be really happy, and then I feel worse. My husband has really bad depression and anxiety and a lot of the time I feel like I'm so busy supporting him and the kids, that no one ever looks out for me - who do I lean on? It's hard. I hope you get some relief after a good sleep or some medication. Like you say, not long until you're due then it will probably be easier to get some medication to help. xxx
