I got told off by the M&S bra-fitting lady for wearing underwired bras. I thought it was just a comfort issue, but apparently if you're hoping to breastfeed it can affect the way your ducts develop.

This is the information I found caelstorm:

There's nothing to say that wearing underwired bras during pregnancy may be harmful. However, you're likely to find them uncomfortable for your changing breasts.

Many midwives and retail outlets advise against wearing underwired bras in pregnancy. The rigid wire may interfere with the natural changes in the size and shape of your breasts. The bra may obstruct the increased blood flow or squash your developing milk duct system. At best, it'll be uncomfortable, but at worst, it may lead to inflammation (
    mastitis).

If you do wear an underwired bra at any time in your pregnancy make sure that the wire does not press on your breasts and don't sleep in it.

So as long as your underwired bra fits correctly it basically shouldn't harm your duct system.

What bits of bedding are you all buying? It's confusing me no end looking at it all as I can't work out what I could buy that would get used.

For everything I've read about cot bumpers being ok I've read something saying they're bad and I know I can't use a quilt or pillow or anything for baby so I'm not sure what I can buy, or are you buying everything for when they are older and can use it? :o

Is a coverlet just like a blanket? Sorry if these are stupid questions :)

We are decorating our nursery in a white and green theme. Its all just working around the bedding we got with the cot. http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Nursery/Bedding/Coordinated-Ranges/Jungle-Fun-CotCotbed-Bedding-Set%280082363%29

We managed to get curtains from The Range, green with white spots aswell. So its a jungle kind of theme but we like crocodiles so there will mostly be those :D Ive been stocking up on croc teddies and things lol we have the weirdest one that has a belly button! Strange! :rotfl:
I was thinking of having a go at painting the tree from the bedding onto a wall but decided against it as we just dont have enough time. We have friends visiting the end of this month so it will be a mad rush getting the room decorated afterwards.

Im very happy today as I managed to get a rocking chair with stool! And all for a bargain price too! :j Its in really good condition and hardly used so it is perfect for me to use with little man at feeding time or just to chill out in. cant wait to get it upstairs so I can go sit in it lol.

Off to the cinema tonight hopefully and out for food to celebrate our anniversary. Looking forward to it but I think the cinema will be packed as its the opening night of Green Lantern!

Hope everyone is well and cant wait to hear about any more births!

A coverlet is a slightly thicker blanket.

I got 4 fitted sheets, 6 cot blankets (4fleece, 1 brushed cotton and 1 fluffy one), cot bumper, 2 coverlets

Flat sheets are a waste of time.. actually for roly-poly blankets are all a waste of time lol.

I don't use a pillow until they go into a single bed ditto the duvet.

I'm still wearing underwired bras- I've searched and can't find anything else but underwired in my cup size locally, and I'd prefer to try it on. Even Debenhams has only underwired, so may look online.

    Hi Bunnyhop

I am buying for the cotbed: Bumper, 2 flat sheets, 2 fitted sheets & cellular blanket - will swaddle DD for first couple of weeks then put her in a grobag. For the moses basket: 2 flat sheets, 2 fitted sheets and a fleece blanket that can be used in the pram too. This is what i had with DD1 and was fine - you normally will get given at least one extra fleece blanket or similar as a present, i got 3 last time!! HTH x

I am going to wear underwired bras (even to sleep -though I may stretch to taking them off in the shower) until my dying day.

This is because I like my boobs where they are, and no middle aged chubby woman with baps round her knees like the M&S bra fitter I saw is going to sentence me to the same fate. I wouldn't worry too much about it, there is just so much information and so many 'orders' thrown at you these days by those in charge it's impossible to do it all. I can't see underwired bras doing any harm at all unless you are trying to get G cup breasts into a C cup bra!

I have worn nursing bras for about 14 years off and on and my boobs stay where they are.. so long as they fit correctly and are supportive enough for the weight they stay put.

Droopy boobs are caued by the ligaments tha support them being stretched due to not wearing a bra or one which is not supportive enough.. ligaments unlike muscle cannot be toned or repaired so those who have saggy boobs a lot of it is genetic but a large percentage have done it themseves.. such as my sister who rarely wears a bra so hers are like those of a native tribeswoman.
