Hi can I join you please? I got a "Pregnant 1-2 weeks" on a digi test today.
I am so happy, but also very scared! We have been trying for a couple of months and AF isn't due until Thursday but 4 tests later and they are all positive. So I was wondering if my symptoms are normal: I've had mild AF type pain on and off for the past week (I usually only get pain on the day of AF), I've felt a bit tired and on the odd occasion I've felt a bit sea sickish when I'm sitting down and quite hot, nothing massively significant but not usual for me.
One worry at the back of my mind is that I have been charting my temperature and it has only ever stayed up for one day (when I think I ovulated) and then gone straight back down the following day. So I was worried I wasn't ovulating. Has anyone else had a BFP when their temp didn't stay up?
Also could you give me some advice on what happens now? My plan is to wait until next week and go to see my GP to inform them. All I know from that point is that you have a 12 week scan. can anyone tell me what to expect when I see my GP and any questions I should ask.
Apologies for all the questions. As you can clearly tell this is my first time being pregnant! LOL.0 -
Welcome and congratulations again candlewax!
Your symptoms all sound normal. It's completely normal to have AF type cramps due to your uterus stretching to accommodate beanie.
My temp fluctuated quite a bit and I had a big "implantation dip" before it rose again. I wouldn't worry too much about your temp and I would not continue taking it over wise it may become an unnecessary worry.
Your GP will refer you to the midwives. They will contact you for a booking in appointment where they take a complete medical history and some bloods. Then you will have your scan, usually between 12-14 weeks. I think after that there's a 16 week check up with the midwife then the 20 week scan and then an appointment with the midwife once a month until closer to your EDD when you get them more frequently. I think that's right anyway

congratulations candlewax !
I can only speak from my own experience of things as we shouldnt give medical advice,
The AF cramps were and still are normal for me every time ive been pregnant, the uterus stretching causes this. The sickness and temps changing were also the same.
You can go see your doctor for confirmation, dont be surprised if they just take your word for it though. Mine gave me my estimated due date and told me to book in with the midwife. Best bet is to give your surgery a call and ask them the proceedure, you can of course then book to see the midwife early if you have lots of questions.
Its worth investing in some baby mags, they cover quite a lot in there - pregnancy and birth was my fav,
Most importantly, dont stress and enjoy itBow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
Thanks, I didn't think about magazines. I'll get one tomorrow. I will just have to remember to hide it when we have visitors as we are not telling anyone yet.0

Hi Candlewax and congratulations!
If I were you, I'd bypass my Gp and just book a booking-in appointment with the midwife. THe GP won;t do anything except say congratulations, tell you an EDD (which the MW will do anyway) and send you home. Waste of time.
THe booking-in takes about an hour, but they still don;t check you actually are PG though - they always take your word for it, which feels slightly mad to me! DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Just adding myself. Just had my first docs appointment, here we have shared care so you have to see the doc to book the midwife. And now I got to go because I can hear DD talkingMum to DD born Oct 2009

What a nightmare night im having. Cant seem to sleep at all and constantly seem to need the loo. Had to get out of bed and come downstairs as i seem to be driving OH mad with my frequent trips. The annoying thing is when i get there its so minimal i wish i hadnt bothered. Maybe my bladders just feeling a bit crushed. The joys of pregnancy!!!DS1 born June 2000

In some areas I think you have to be referred by a GP - which seems daft as like you said the GP doesn't do anything else.
