  • I'm catching up on all the posts I've missed...

emsbet I'm glad the scan went well!

sunshine, I'm a government worker. I'm thinking on taking 9 months off, then going back full time. I'm the main earner so it'll be my OH that is thinking on going part time and being a housedaddy part of the week. We can't really afford nursery care but want the wee one to meet other kids so are going budget for at least two half days a week, the rest of the time we'll be relying on parents for childcare but splitting it between them means it shouldn't be too much. I'd love to be a SAHM or go part-time but it's not feasible just now :(

mishka sorry to hear that, my symptoms have came and gone but there was about 3 weeks where I couldn't move out my bed without getting motion sickness, took me over an hour to get up every morning. I hope it passes soon for you!

I'm feeling sick this morning too. I'm drinking Ginger and Lemon tea and eating ginger nuts. When I eat/drink them I feel fine but when I stop I start feeling sick again. Not complaining though as I was worried when I didn't have any ;) Also I'm still on a high from yesterday :D

    xx

Thats exactly it for me too, im fine as long as I eat constantly - anything as long as its carby/savoury. Im gonna be huge :o

Sugargurlie - How many weeks are you now ? Hopefully it will ease a bit for me too, i dont know what to do with myself at the moment :rotfl:

Just wondering - what jobs is everyone in and how long are you planning on taking off? Also, are you planning on returning?

    xx

I'm an accountant so my critical time of year is late December, January and February.

My manager is giving me the whole "Don't worry about being here for audit, your work is really tight blah blah blah"

So I'm taking him at his word and requesting to reduce my hours from the beginning of Dec. I want to borrow 4 days from 2012 annual leave to use across 4 weeks - finish an hour early mon & Tues and 2 hrs early on Weds Thurs & Fri.

Same for January and first week of Feb, then take 2 weeks full leave and start ML week beginning 18th Feb.

This will use up 19 days of my 25 days for 2012, in addition I understand the bank & public holidays will be carried over to 2013 with the unused 6 days of 2012.

As for going back, not a chance. DH is a police officer and his shifts combined with my office hours would result in hardly seeing each other or Elvis :(

We believe that we can manage on his salary (and overtime when available) so that I can be a SAHM to bring up Elvis for a few years until another one comes along or I decide to go back to work part time.

    Fingers crossed, anyway!

    Hello all

I am 6 + 3 (I hope) with my first and very long awaited (years of trying on and off with endometriosis) pregnancy.

I saw my GP today and have got my booking in appointment with the midwife on 25th and a private scan on 27th.

I am having lots of symptoms which I am very happy to have and am very nervous and trying not to get my hopes up.

Hope you are all feeling well today,

    Jem x

    Hello all :)

Welcome Jem, congrats on your pregnancy xx

Icey - yes you are right you will acrew your bank holidays on top of any annual leave you have built up. I am planning on using 4 weeks of banked/annual/bank holiday leave one month before I decide to go back to work so it would be a month of full pay rather than SMP. I think I can also do some keeping in touch days, although not too sure?!

mishkanorman - I am the same too! I cant stop eating the savouries!!

Welcome Jem  congratulations! We are about the same with our dates - using my LMP I'm 6+4 but I had an early scan yesterday which put me at 6+2.

Thanks Anna! Hope all is well with you! :)

I've been asleep on the sofa since about 8 this evening and now feel awake! Typical! I think I'm going to go to bed anyway and rest even if I don't sleep.

    xx

  • Welcome Jem.

Congrats and good luck for a health pregnancy.

Didn't know that the bank holidays accrued and you get to take them after your maternity. Not sure that applies to me with working in a school and getting set holidays does it???
