Thank you kira000. The second hospital near to me is west Middlesex but have no idea what they're like. It would make more sense for me to stick with Kingston if poss,as I'm there under a rheumatologist,so presumably they would have all my notes etc to hand x:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

Fingers crossed you will end up with Kingston then! It does seem to make more sense if you are already seeing someone there. Would Epsom be another alternative? Not sure if that would be closer or further than West Mid.
I'm sure you will be fine for Kingston tho.

I think Epsom would be too far(I dont drive). Forgot to add that my GP is requesting specialist care thru my pregnancy as I have arthritis. So I guess, that may slow things up in the meantime. x:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

Or they may speed things up for you, if you have extra care, just so they make sure you are ok. I have a few high risk areas, so i'm getting a bit extra in terms of appointments. It could go either way! Good luck!

Hi everyone. I'm going to be 7 weeks on sunday. Its almost 2 weeks(on tues) since I saw my GP. He expained that he would be writing to the hospital but I've yet to recieve an appointment for booking in. Anyone know roughly how long it takes to hear back? I appreciate hospitals vary(I will be going to Kingston hospital). Thanks in advance x
Hi
I'm 8 weeks 5 days, went to go see my gp on the 3rd of June, and still haven't heard anything from Kingston. I've phoned twice, and been told that I have been accepted, but there is a backlog. My gp have also phoned on my behalf, and have been told the same thing. So not to worry.
2 friends of mine gave birth in West Middlesex, and they said it was also good.
I've only got 3 more weeks till i'm 12 weeks.
So in the meantime i've booked in for a private scan at babybond in Richmond on Saturday afternoon:shocked: Rather nervous!

Hi to everyone new, and glad to hear updates on scans etc.
I still don't feel pregnant either, and I'm at 13+3!! I did a ton of tests (although by the sounds of things nowhere near as many as some of you) but now I can look at the little scan picture and try and get my head around the fact that it is inside me somewhere :-). As I was already on the larger size there is no sign of pg from the outside - not even found my work trousers getting tight yet, which helps as I don't want to tell work for a while.
On the tea front, I had to cut down a lot, and found the easiest thing was to have half a cup - I 'forget' about the rest of it and let it go cold, if colleagues ask - easy way to cut down on caffeine without missing out on my first cup of the day, or the just after lunch one, or getting home from work... I had no idea how much tea and coffee I drank til I had to cut down!!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Thankyou for the advice to think about where to go for the birth. I have looked at the options in my area and I think Stoke Mandeville is the way to go.
Really don't want to go to Watford. Watford General is grim on a good day in the sunshine and also there is a lady I know (and don't particularly like) that is a midwife there.
Anyone got any comments to add about either?
Not too sure I'd want a homebirth, there is a little voice that worries about things going wrong. Might think about it more when I have actually been to the GP and referred to the midwives.
Can I ask when other ladies decide to tell their employers? At the moment I am leaning towards the 10 week mark as my manager is back from holiday and can be a bit of a pain when it comes to time off for appointments etc.
I work with 3 guys so there won't be a huge amount of sympathy to share I suspect. I know they "have" to allow me the time off for appointments etc but I think my direct manager could make his views felt if they impact my deadlines.
Thanks!Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -

I'm afraid i can't comment on hospitals in your area, maybe one of the other ladies know your neck of the woods.
In terms of when to tell, it really depends on individual circumstances. I felt i had to fess up to my boss and his boss, at about 8.5 weeks, purely as i was being so ill, i was worried it would look like i was just being lazy, rather than just ill. I did find a huge relief getting it out there, and lessened the pressure to put on a happy front when getting back from 10 minutes heaving in the loo's. Worth noting that your employment rights dont kick in till you tell them, so any time off due pregnancy sickness counts under normal sickness rules, so can be used as disciplinary if your compnay has a sickness mamagement policy. Also not entitled to paid time off for appointments till you tell them too. My employers have been great, despite it being very bad timing, and not having a job that is easy to get cover for. I've tried to sweeten the blow by thinking for myself how best to cover the work, and drawing up a plan for cover, and laying out what my intentions are. It seems to have helped their worries alot, and reassured them that i'm still taking my job seriously. Worth thinking about.
If there are no such issues, then you can keep it quiet until you feel ready, as long as you give the right notice.
