Afternoon Ladies,
Hope you are all well and not too feeling too sick!
I have a couple of questions if you would indulge me please?
1) Why does the internet PG calculator put me at 4 weeks but the CB test put me at 1-2 weeks?
The first day of my last period was 31st May.
2) I am starting to wee more than normal, is this to be expected?
3) I drink copious amounts of tea. I know that caffine isn't good for my little bean so I am reducing it to 1 cup in the morning, afternoon and evening. Is this OK?
I don't really want to make the obvious move over to decaf tea - would raise eyebrows and quesitons in the small office I work in.
4) Other than the obvious (Ibuprofen, mouldy cheeses, shellfish, peanuts, pate, raw egg stuff like home made mayo etc) is there anything else I should be avoiding like the plague?
Sorry to ask silly quesions!
Thanks
Icey xx
Hi Icey... not silly questions at all!
1)PG calculators go from your last period (LMP), whereas the digi's are from conception, so that means for an "average" cycle, an extra 2 weeks added.
2)The loo is the PG ladies friend. Make your self comfy! Even if its not heaving, you will definately find yourself in there more often now, wee-ing for england is very normal! I was in and out almost hourly for my first 8 weeks. My weeing has calmed down a bit for now, but once beanie starts pressing on my bladder, i know it will be back again!
3)I'm not really a caffeine person myself so not best placed to answer that one. Minimising is best tho and 3 might be a bit much, could you have 2 normal tea's and sneak in a decaff in the afternoon? You may find that with the increased weeing, the tea will just make it worse as well.
4)Umm, wash your fruit and veg properly before eating incase of stuff on outside. Not have liver- too much vitamin A. Dont eat too much mackerel, swordfish or tinned tuna due to mecury levels and things, i think they say 2 portions per week is fine. Oh, and in case you have any super duper age defying face products, might be best to switch to something simple- alot of the new ones with AHA's oxydoxy wotsits and vitamin a etc are no good for beanies. Peanuts are actually supposed to be ok generally now, unless you have a propensity in the family for allergic reactions, in which case maybe avoid.
And the one for luck- i've only done one more test since my first BFP, but then i did more than my share testing 2-3 times a day for 6 days to get my TLP! I think a few of the other girls definately had the urge to retest, so quite normal!
Does that help?

Afternoon Ladies,

That is how many weeks since conception so 2 weeks before conception and 2 weeks after is 4 weeks pregnant!
The first day of my last period was 31st May.
EDD 8th March 2012 or thereabouts (9 months plus 1 week from LMP)
2) I am starting to wee more than normal, is this to be expected?
You have a tiny person squishing your bladder and your kidneys working 24/7 ... yes VERY normal.. it improves after about 10-12 weeks usually when he baby is higher and not putting so much pressure on the bladder
3) I drink copious amounts of tea. I know that caffine isn't good for my little bean so I am reducing it to 1 cup in the morning, afternoon and evening. Is this OK?

they reckon 2 mug of caffeine drinks a day.. but it really doen't make any difference.. I've had babies where I drank about 40+ mugs a day and the baby was just the same as the ones where I'd drunk none!
4) Other than the obvious (Ibuprofen, mouldy cheeses, shellfish, peanuts, pate, raw egg stuff like home made mayo etc) is there anything else I should be avoiding like the plague?
Icey xx
Yes.. avoid the plague!!!
animal faeces (though you are more likely to get toxoplasmosis from muddy potatoes or the park.. and are most likely immune already!)
Most shellfish is ok.. prawns etc.. it is stuff like oysters that are 'filter feeders' you are advised against
no more than 2 tins tuna a week
unless there is a family history of nut allergy peanuts are fine
lion stamped eggs are fine runny!
cured meats like salami
liver... to much vitamin ALB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I'm glad its not just me with the obsession doing pregnancy tests! I've done 11 to date (is that record?!) I bought them from the pound shop so it was easy to keep popping in and buying a couple at a time! I haven't done any for 2 weeks now and think its finally sunk in!
I'm excited to have my booking in app tomorrow morning and have booked a private scan for 11th July! Hubby is excited about the scan bless him!
The peeing all the time is driving me nuts! I'm waking up at 1.30am and at 5.00am desperate to pee, my hubby jokes that I should get a bed pan!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Sorry, one more!
5) Is it normal to want to keep checking the test? I keep wanting to do another IC to make sure. I can see myself having a box full of tests like Stacey in Gavin & Stacey
I think the problem is that I don't really feel PG yet? But I do feel really protective over my little clump of cells that is going to be a bean!
I can answer that one - i only found out last wednesday and i think im up to 14 tests nowso umm either normal or we are both strange

Get your own names..
.. it isn't like there aren't enough about .. it is actually one of my hates when people 'copy' or blatantly steal other peoples names.. total lack of imagination... but if you want a Darius.. or a Roderick.. feel free..
Hmmm... not sure OH will go for either of thoseIts funny every baby boy we know at the moment is Noah or Archie - when did they become so popular?
Havent heard back from the MW re scan and as I never got booked in, I didnt get her phone no, so dont know what to do really... We're away to Manc to see friends this weekend anyway, so might leave it til Tues when I see her... I guess she just forgot me
Remember the toothbrush gagging well from prev preg - with all the wretching it was taking me 20 mins to brush my teeth, which seemed completely futile when i threw up again half an hour later - don't think it was the toothpaste coz every other type of mint helped - gum, tea, mints, etc.0 -
Hello all
I am tentatively following this thread as I am 8 weeks 5 days after more than a decade of ttc. Still not sunk in properly I don't think
Anyway, I am a bit worried because on the Babycentre website forum someone said that their midwife actually came to their house for an appointment. I cannot cope with that! (I am desperately trying to declutter and my house is not ready for visitors. I think that the years of ttc took their toll on me, I hoarded and gave up on the house). I am hoping that in my area (not a rich area, small city, lots of different cultures) that midwives don't have time to come round during pregnancy. Am thinking I will just refuse if she asks!

I did 5 until OH made me stop! The urge is still strong though but he would really disaprove!
According to EDD from midwife I'm 12 weeks today! Now just need that scan!0 -
Hello and welcome to the new people!
I've got my booking in appointment now - even though the doctor said I wouldn't see the midwife until 16 weeks, I've been sent an appointment for next week. Unfortunately that's when I'm on holiday (grr, I did tell them) so having to move that to the following week, when I will be almost 11 weeks. At least it's a bit earlier than I was expecting
Wasn't asked any awkward questions on our work night out, so that was a relief! Managed to get away without drinking anything alcoholic. I have told my boss now - she was very pleased though slightly horrified about the timing, but told me not to worry and they'd work something out (I'm a lecturer, baby is due right in the middle of term time!). I'm only going to take a couple of months maternity leave anyway, can't afford to do otherwise.
Just to add to the discussion about caffeine on the last page - from 6 weeks I was getting really noticable heart palpitations and not sleeping even after 1 cup of tea, so I've given it up entirely now (apart from the occasional chocolate biscuit). That was one of the first clues really, as I hadn't even done a test by that point (had just moved house, started new job, thought lack of period was just stress!).0
