Sorry think I'd been knocked off the last list for some reason, so I've added myself back on!

Hope all ladies are feeling ok today? I've had such bad feelings of nausea recently, not actually been sick though!

I have my booking in app on Thursday, so looking forward to that. Can anybody give me some idea's of questions that they ask about your partners health/history? My hubby is away on business and can't come with me so I need to go prepared!

    Have a good day all!

Posting on behalf of DD who is 10+6 , she has asked me a few questions that I don't have the answer to,so hope you can answer. When do you get the pregnacy glow as she has broken out in spots and does the fact that she is thin (probably slightly underweight) mean she will show earlier as she has already outgrown most of her jeans & has a definite bump? Scan is booked for 11/7 when she'll be 13 weeks but she only guessed her lmp date as she wasn't trying (family failure) so didn't make a note of it

Ahh, the famous "glow", fortunately, or unfortunately all Pregnancies are different, which means some women sail through looking fab throughout. Other women miss out and end up blotchy and spotty throughout. Mostly an improvement in skin and hair happens "at some point", different for everyone. At a push, second trimester onwards, when the mad hormone rush of the first tri settles down a bit. So dont worry if DD isnt getting that glowy feeling, thats as normal as anything else! As for showing, it is quite possible to show at around 12 weeks, and being skinny is likely to help bump show sooner, less to hide it in! Of course she could be further along, or (dont want to scare you) there could be 2 in there, hence a more pronounced bump. Does she have a good book to read up on? It really helps with some of this stuff, or buy one and read up yourself, so you can offer some advice and reassurance. I've said it before, but i would recommend "what to expect when you are expecting", as an great starter read.

Hubby didnt come with me to mine, and it was fine, would have been quite dull him sitting listening to list of questions. Nothing in there about bubs really.
TBH, its more about you and your family history, heart problems, blood pressure, cancer, thyroid, diabetes, dvt, any blood disorders etc. Best ask your mum and dad about health issues in their family. If you know your blood group and hubbys that helps- they will still take the booking bloods, but it makes things easier. About your hubby, they mainly want to know ethnic origin, to determine likelyhood of inherited blood disorders that are more common in certain groups. Have a think about your medical history, last smear/results, any operations, anaethestics you have had, back problems, blood pressure, anything you are allergic to ; antibiotics, latex etc.

Thats more or less it. Long lists of "any history of......."

No question is a silly question :)
In most cases, no. The appointment is basically a form filling excercise, where the midwife will also check weight, height, blood pressure, take blood and urine samples and asked a zillion questions. It's usually after this appointment that the midwife refers you for a scan and the date for this arrives by post a week or two later. If your booking in appointment is a little later (mine was at 8 weeks), the midwife would make the referral before your appointment, so they don't cause any further delays. This means most people would get their scan around the 12 week mark.

    Hi Ladies

Hope everyone is well, and big hugs to those that aren't.
Been awol lately - been feeling a bit sickly, but no being sick thank goodness. Well we've booked a private early scan for Saturday seems as though I haven't had my booking in appointment yet, or even heard from the midwife! I need to know all is ok!

    Question for everyone -

WHAT STRETCH MARK CREAM IS EVERYONE USING?

I've been looking at Palmers, and think i'm going to go with that. But not sure which one is best. Cream/Lotion/Butter.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

she had already thought about twins, it is possible I mis-carried middle son's twin as i had all the signs of a mis-carriage but a heart beat was found when they scanned me . I hope she develops the glow but if not serves her right for not having spotty teens :)

    Hi Hun,

I've just started to use Palmer's Coca Butter Oil. Its very similar to bio oil, but it smells better! Its quite expensive, but it leaves your skin feeling lovely, soft and moisturised! I use it daily after my bath, anything to keep the dreaded stretch marks at bay!!

I'm currently using Bio oil but also have the palmers stuff which I haven't used because I think it smells funny  Quite like the bio oil though but may well change once I get a bit further on and given that my belly is showing already I'll have to nsee what works best.
