I attended a diabetes pre conception clinic which really helped me reduce my hba1c.

I have also been set very tight targets. I often feel like its easy for the doctors to set these levels and judge us when we don't meet them but unless you battle diabetes day in day out you have no idea how difficult it can be.

I am booked in for a diabetes antenatal appointment next week. Not sure what they'll do then but probs just bloods and advice etc as ill only he about six weeks.

You will probably get a scan too - you may even see the heartbeat at that stage. If they are like my hospital they will want to go through your testing diary and suggest any changes to your dosages. I'm lucky the DSN at my clinic is t1 diabetic herself and been through 2 pregnancies so it really does help that she's been through it all herself!

My clinic and DSN are the same - I'm wondering if we're going to the same place?? If so, maybe see you on Thursday ;)
  • Hello. Please can I join you peeps? I'm 5wks tomorrow. Lost one end Nov so am very scared and constantly knicker watching! I'm elated and paranoid at the same time. Took almost 7 years to fall pregnant last sept yet fell at first try this time! Anybody else like me? Need positive sticky vibes. I've had one, lost one, had one, lost one so I'm hoping this will be a healthy one. :j

You're not alone. I am crying at the slightest thing, on TV, from conversations with people, I feel ridiculous. I'm also eating stuff I wouldn't have dreamed of touching a month or two ago.

    Hope the time goes quickly

Does your hospital start with a w and end with an e? If so I reckon it might be!

I hope they will scan me at the appointment. There was no mention on the letter though.

I'm very frightened like others on this thread as I've had 2 miscarriages so far. I'm hoping for a little reassurance on wed.

Fancy that, well having been through it all two years ago PM me if you need any help, it is difficult and a major pain in the you-know-where but all worth it in the end of course.

When I was last pregnant, the first time I saw the diabetes midwife was at 8 weeks. When she found out I'd not yet had a viability scan she squeezed me in right there and then. It might be different at your hospital, but just because it's not on the letter it doesn't mean it won't happen.

I'm feeling the same - although I'm dreading my scan on Thursday in case it's not good news (I'm never happy!).

    Hope all goes well.
