Earliest scan is 2nd March which sucks. They took bloods there and did internal swabs then sent me on my way. I have to go straight back if anything else happens the bleeding appears to have stopped but the morning sickness is still here.
I hate the not knowing and i know the NHS is rushed off its feet but still you'd have thought systems would be in place no matter what time of night or day just to scan to check whats going on.
Thanks for all your kind wishesthe husbands got me on bed rest.
Lucifer if you're desperate to see if baby is still there, would you consider a private scan. Not cheap but may be worth it for the peace of mind. I know you shouldn't have to pay, it should be available on the NHS but if it was me and I couldn't wait til 2nd March I know I would have one.0 -
I have heard they don't do scans as a matter of course to discourage people from using them as a free scan service - they take blood tests instead to see if the HCG is doubling as it should.
Its not right ,they should scan people who need it, but I can understand that some people may abuse the system and spoil it for the rest.
But scans aren't an exact science and until you get much further on in the pregnancy they don't show a great deal. My last EPU didn't do scans unless you were past 6 weeks regardless. Blood tests give a much better indication in early pregnancy.
There are lots of things that should be available on the NHS and aren't.14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Our EPU scans you and does bloods at the same time and usually it is only a day or 2 wait for an appt, usually next day IME. A lot don't scan before 6 weeks but they do here.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Had my GP appt this morning, my blood pressure is a bit high but they don't seem worried. Just need to wait for a letter for my booking appointment now!
They did ask for a urine sample but I couldnt give them one - didn't help that I could hear the people in the waiting room talking and that put me off!
Hope everyone is well x0 -
Congratulation to all the newbies, here's hoping that you and all those with spotting have very sticky beans.
Lots of you appear to be struggling with sickness, I've got no advice really as I have been really lucky, but I use the travel bands for my travel sickness and they're brilliant. They can be a bit uncomfortable if you keep fiddling with them as they are designed to be tight, but bear with them and hopefully you will see the results.I have 10.. I was very ill with the last 2 I had kidney failure bby the time I got to about 30 weeks and by 35 weeks my liver was not functioning well either. I had SPD and crutches etc so I am absolutely dreading the next 6 months!Luciferswench wrote: »You do look like you have quite a pronounced bump Pigpen. Ive just had a call to say i can have a scan tomorrow afternoon. Which is awesome i do understand the nhs is massively stretched. I wouldnt know where to start for a private scan.
Still got sickness and no bleeding still lots of knicker twitching though.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Good to hear they can squeeze you in for a scan luciferswench. Hope it goes ok.
I am back (well i never really went away as I have been lurking with interest!) because my hip pain has suddenly got a lot worse and I'm not sure what to do. It started off that my hips and thighs were painful to the touch but now my left hip hurts inside (the joint) and I'm struggling to walk! I'm only 5+3 and not met my midwife yet but I do have her number from my intro pack so do you think it's worth asking her about or should I just grin and bear it???
Thanks so much. Hope everyone is well.0 -
Lucifer - that's good to hear. If you need a private scan in future though, just put pregnancy scan + where you live into google there are loads and loads of private scanning places around.
I just went off for a sneaky one today, found somewhere that does them for £45 which is extremely reasonable in my opinion.
I call them sneaky cos I'm doing it behind the OH's back, he would not approve of me spending money on them he would see it as a waste!
Sonographer said all looks good - emby measuring at 8w3d and heartbeat 170.0 -
Hi all, I have lurked on the forum for ages but finally registered so I could post here!
I am 8 weeks +1 and have a scan coming up on Wednesday. I've got an 8 week scan because of a previous pregnancy (my first one) that had some serious problems and unfortunately ended at 15 weeks in November.
Does any one have any experience of an 8 week scan? Other than checking if it's one or two, if there's a heartbeat etc can they more accurately date it? Can they do the nuchal measurement? Also can they scan externally or will they have to do an internal one (which my husband is a bit uncomfortable about)
Part of me is so excited about the scan but another part is worried about getting my hopes up too much after the previous pregnancy. I'm going to ask them to switch the monitor off during the scan because last time I saw the baby moving around on the monitor a few weeks before the pregnancy ended which made it that much more painful - this time I'm trying to get less attached if that makes sense...
I got hyperemesis last time but luckily my nausea isn't too bad so far. I think it might kick off this week because last time, 8 weeks was when I started throwing up every day! Plus I've come down with a cold and not being able to take anything other than paracetamol is rubbish.
Hope everyone else is doing ok and best of luck to people who have scans coming up.0
