Thanks all for the reassurances, I'm going to do my best to distract myself :-)

I found out that i actually have a viability scan (lovely phrase) next week due to my age, history and diabetes, so that might help - although I'll only be just over 6 weeks then so probably won't even see a heartbeat. I'm very grateful that they've organised everything so quickly though, I've not had a date for booking in appt yet.

At 6 weeks if it is a halfway decent machine you should see a HB. The earliest I've seen one was 5+3 with DD3 and she is 12 so you'd think the equipment would have improved since then.

I didn't realise old people got early scans? .. I haven't ever had one unless I've had bleeding and bothered getting a gp appointment.. which I don't usually.

Booking on Tuesday.. though I am at the point of cancelling it now.. I always do this.. I might put it off another week..

  • No Pigpen - you must go on Tuesday! We all want to know how far along you are?!

Welcome to the ladies with the recent BFPs. Nice to see you. Wishing you all a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Nausea waves today. Bleurgh. And some slight heartburn last night. Had terrible heartburn with DD - was hoping not to get it this time round.

    5+3 today :)

lol.. I am pretty sure I am 13 weeks on Tuesday. I don't have a scan on Tuesday so we will still be none the wiser for another week or 2... so what difference will a few more weeks make? lol

OH decided to crash the car on the way up the motorway today so now I am having private little hissy fits and knicker twitching like I have a tic!

I saw one quite clearly at 6w2d so you may be ok. I also had an early scan due to diabetes - I think it's because they don't want to waste NHS resources on managing our diabetes until week 12 if the pregnancy isn't viable as I can't think of why else we'd need one then!

    Anyway it's a freebie so I'm grateful
  • Welcome to everyone with new BFPs! Congratulations ladies.

Still feeling sick but necking ginger ale like my life depends on it, which really helps.
Got my first midwife appointment on Wednesday, I think I'll be about 8 weeks by then.

Is any one else dreaming alot lately?

I've mentioned a couple before but last night I dreamt zombies were taking over the world and infecting people by sticking yellow smiley face stickers on people....

Hi ladies, it's time for me to join this thread.

I got a BFP this week (well 3 actually - just to be sure!). I'm about 4-5 weeks.

It's the first BFP for me. I'm 41 & been TTC for 18 months. Had a lap about 9 months ago to clear blocked tubes & have conceived on cycle 4 of Clomid.

I haven't qualified for NHS fertility support (as well as being over 40, I'm overweight) so I've been seeing a FS privately.

I'm having a (private) early scan next Saturday. FS said he recommended this if I got pg soon after the lap as there's a higher risk of ectopic then. I don't think it is now particularly 'soon', but would like the scan anyway. The only thing I'm expecting from it is to know the pregnancy is in the right place (hopefully).

I'm sure I'm no different to anyone at this point - excited, hopeful but trying to keep a check on reality as I know there's a long road ahead & don't want to get my hopes up too much.

Phoned the GP (to cancel a smear I had booked!) & asked what I needed to do. It's straight to the midwife at our practice. The next appt available is 18 March when I think I will be about 7 weeks.

It's just OH & I who know (& you guys). No-one knows we have been TTC - it will be a total shock to everyone.

First challenge is tonight as we are out with friends - I am normally a drinker. Having to make excuses about why I'm driving.

Fingers crossed I am here for the next 8 weeks.

    Hi and congratulations.

I normally find saying I'm on anti-biotics or a health kick a good way to get around drinking. Or say you have an early start the next day?
