Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! 2

Hi ladies, can I join in please? Got my BFP this morning and I think I'm about 4 weeks but my cycles aren't that regular so I could be a little further along. We hadn't been TTC for very long, so its a bit of a surprise too!
So excited, as is OH, but also slightly terrified! I previously miscarried at about 6 weeks although I didn't know I was pregnant until it happened, so I'm worried that it's going to happen again. Must think positive!
Does anyone know when I should book an appointment with my GP? I know I'm probably a bit too early but it's a nightmare getting an appointment at my local surgery.
Why do you want an appointment with GP if your already with midwife?Luciferswench wrote: »Feel dreadful this morning lots of sickness last few daysGot booked in yesterday estimated im 10+5 today, midwife couldnt find a heartbeat with doppler which panicked me a little bit as we had a loss last year at 10+4
I wouldn't read to much into the heart beat at this stage its so hard to find out where the baby is in the womb & my midwife had trouble finding it even at 20 weeks sometimes I remember having to tell her to put it on my right side as thats where the baby slept when I was more far gone & she couldnt find it. *hugs* and good luck thoPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Congrats to those of you with recent bfps!
Had my 12 week scan today and everything's looking good! Dates only out by 2 days, so due 2 days earlier than I thought. May now move over to the other thread. Best of luck to you all and see you over there soon!! xx0 -

I'm not registered with the midwife, I thought I needed to do that through my GP? I'll investigate!
Thanks!0 -

Sorry!!! I didnt read your thread properly can I blame this on baby brain?? For some reason I thought you had already had your scan.
Yesterday MIL came round and her daughter was playing with something I said I had stole the battieries out of it for my DS's night light which had now stopped working...but to be fair it had 3 durex batties and 1 normal in front of my MIL!!I didnt even notice my OH poked me and said do you know what you just said? I'd meant to say duracell...or how ever u spell it :rotfl:
Were getting conflicting views on this you *should* be able to just ring your GP and they will give you a number for midwife but some gp's insist on the first appointment...You don't need this really tho.
Edit: I know what I've done somehow I read two posts and replyed to you as same person -.- I've edited it now.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -

My midwife wouldn't even try to find a hb with a doppler before the 16 week appt because the baby's too tiny. Even at 18 weeks it took her nearly 20 minutes to find my baby's (it was down by my hip for some reason!). My OH almost passed out with the stress of watching her try to find it
Honestly, try not to worry. 10 weeks is too early, IMO."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Thanks everyone for the reassurance.
i do feel more positive with all the lovely symptoms i am having.
Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Our practice likes you to have an appointment with the GP, but we can get telephone appointments for anything you think doesn't require being seen, so it only takes 5 mins
Of course this time I got a locum who didn't have a clue how the referral system worked and I ended up just ringing the midwife myself like I did with DS, even told her thats what I should be doing!! :rotfl:My midwife wouldn't even try to find a hb with a doppler before the 16 week appt because the baby's too tiny. Try not to worry, and look forward to your scan xx0 -
welcome sali and myangels and congratulations!
I rang my gp and they asked me to book in with the MW. It depends on which area you live in. I rang at 4 weeks, pretty much as soon as I knew.
congratulations noangel, I'm hoping the time whizzes by until I get to my scan!
bride2be you must be excited, only 2 weeks to go!0 -
AAHhhhh the old knicker twitching... yes it is completly normal after a loss.. I just look at it along the lines of. what will be will be and nothing I do or don't do will make the slightest bit of difference.
You will relax as you get further on.. or neurotic me usually does!
Thanks all for the reassurances, I'm going to do my best to distract myself :-)
I found out that i actually have a viability scan (lovely phrase) next week due to my age, history and diabetes, so that might help - although I'll only be just over 6 weeks then so probably won't even see a heartbeat. I'm very grateful that they've organised everything so quickly though, I've not had a date for booking in appt yet.0 -
