  • Hi guys

Oh i am really not looking forward to the sleep deprivation. :o

I have been off sick this week, the doc told me to self certify and then he will sign me off next week if needed. Work has been annoying about it, but i dont feel guilty any more, baby has to come first after all!

So more exciting news i had my scan last night, and it was magical! A little jelly bean with a strong heartbeat and my dates are 8+5. Also had my bloods taken and flujab today, so got a achey arm but its all worth it :D

I will be seeing our families at the weekend and i am wondering if i should tell them as i will be 9 weeks and everything looks good, wwyd?

    Xx

Hi HIC. I have heard that m/c rate goes down to 3% if you see a heartbeat at 8+ weeks. So you are probably going to be ok, but of course there are no definites you could be one of the unlucky 3%. Then again, you could be unlucky after the 12 week scan too.

I always think will it be problematic/ awkward to tell these people if I miscarry? If no then go for it.

With close-ish family I'd say you'll be ok - but remember that once you start telling people they may start telling people so it becomes harder to control it.

I told my mum when I first found out at 4 weeks and told her not to tell anyone. she told my two brothers without asking me, one of them told his wife who then put a congratulations post on facebook.... it didn't say what she was congratulating me for but still, I'm sure a lot of people could guess.

Needless to say my mum has been told off and won't be trusted in future with confidential information.

Thanks for this it is reassuring to know the odds change that much, but i guess there is never going to be much peace of mind for the rest of my life now ;)
That is very naughty of your mum, i would of been very cross. I think i am going to have a proper think and discussion with dh tonight.

    Thanks for the advice xx

It is completely up to you when you tell.

My first pregnancy I told my family as I was looking at the test and everyone else at 12 weeks. I did go on to lose them but not until 32 weeks.

My second I told close family at 20 weeks and everyone else when she was born.

With this one we have decided to tell people as we go along so there will be no announcement a such.

  • afternoon all,

thank you for the welcome :)
feeling a bit lightheaded today and a bit sore which im actually enjoying, only because i didnt really feel anything last time at this stage so its a total opposite, fingers crossed its a good sign :)
trying not to eat like a horse as well! haha.
im going to wait for a bit before registering with midwives, maybe until the end of next week if a can, then ill be 5 weeks which is a pretty reasonable time to contact them i think.
so excited but im really trying to contain myself!

Looks like your in the same general area as me. I found the new registration system surprisingly easy compared to 4 years ago.

I'm having on of those 'everything is annoying me' days. At least I can blame pregnancy hormones for now.
  • Hello :)

Welcome Trina and huge congratulations :j I tested positive early too, at 3+6, and now time seems to be going so slow!

an9i77 - at your mum! Mum's are naughty. I sooooooooooooo want to tell my mum, but she lives 200 miles away. We speak every night and it kills me not to say anything, but I really want to tell her the news face to face. She'sa coming to visit when I will be 7 weeks, so just another couple of weeks to wait. Added to that, I don't want anyone else to know before my mum, so we can't even tell inlaws who live very local. It's very hard to keep schtum.

ToothFairy - I am very jealous of your nice, straightforward MW booking system. Why can't they all be like that?!

head_in_clouds - the scan sounds exciting! Was it an NHS one or a private one?

Bella - I hope your booking in appointment went well

Hugs tiny_courageous and Nikky for rotten morning sickness. Hope it eases up for you soon.

Hopelass - welcome and congratulations :j

Afm, went to the GP this morning, and told him I was pregnant, but had self referred online already. He said he would refer as well, so hopefully I will get into the system ok. He took my BP - all fine. Gave me a pot to pee in and the maternity prescription exemption form to fill in and I have to drop both back into the surgery tomorrow. Also showed him my very angry, red toe and he thought it might be chillblanes! A bit unlikely I think, then he thinks it might be an infection. Didn't want to give me Anti-B due to pregnancy, so I have some cream instead. If it doesn't get any better by the Monday then I am to go back.

I can hear DD banging on her cot, so I guess she's awake :)

Afternoon everyone can't believe how complicated and different booking systems can be my docs you just ring and tell them you've had a positive test they ask the first date of last period then they work out when your about the 10 weeks mark and book you in with midwife nice and simple

So I've had my booking all is ok she worked out I'm 10+2 and my scan is booked for 8th march, bloods and urine taken and sent off so we'll see if anything happens with them, midwife said to wait for my scan to check my dates and then book back in to see her when I'm about 16 weeks

I told her about my fears and what an awful time I had last birth she is suggesting I go the birth centre instead of the hospital she said its a much better experience and everything would be fine I'm not convinced well we will see but I'm still stuck on the idea of having a hospital birth

    Welcome newbies xx
