Thanks PP. I've had ibs for years, and I'm quite used to trapped wind (which has been agony on occasion!) and other pains that go with it. This was in a different place though, but at least they'll do a scan to have a mooch.Fritterati Challenge for 2013:

sorry to hear that nicp, how awful. Good luck for tomorrow.
I'm confused as to whether I have IBS symptoms or pregnancy symptoms. I get occasional pains all over the tummy region! I am sometimes having to get up in the middle of the night to visit the toilet which I didn't used to - wow another pregnancy symptom!0 -
Afternoon.
I had 2 days of feeling great but now back to being sick all the time. Sick line runs out on Friday but I think i'll be asking for another one. Midwife suggested asking the GP to sign me off until I'm 12 weeks then hopefully the sickness should subside.
Muscle pain has gone thankfully however the pain in my ribs hasn't. Oh the joys of pregnancy.0 -
Welcome Special.. I am pretty much the same as you.. either 10+3 (28/11) or 6+3 (christmas day!).. I'm thinking the former but the midwife and scan are based on the latter so I may well be 16 weeks by the time I get a dating scan.. too late for the nuchal scan but hey ho.. I was on the pill though so AF has been a little erratic at best.
Anyway.. I have got a digital test.. which I intend handing to OH at some point over the weekend when the older children aren't here (it worked the first time) saves telling him with words which I am struggling to say.
nausea.. try ginger bickies before you get out of bed.. and make sure you eat small regular meals, you feel much better when your stomach is not empty.
What's the nuchal scan? Is that something to do with Down's Syndrome?
Have you had confirmation re how far gone you are yet? I had my first midwife appointment this morning and I've got my first scan on Monday. So at my scan, I'll either be about 13 weeks pregnant or about 9 weeks I think!
Feeling much better re sickness! I still feel sick all day every day, but I haven't actually been sick since my last post. Also starting to enjoy food again, but being quite specific with what I eat. Loving milkshakes and toasties at the moment, yumFor some reason, I've got off hot/warm food altogether so am struggling with what to have for tea everyday.
Have you told your OH yet? Up until today (when I was given the scan date), my OH hasn't seemed very excited, infact everytime I would try and discuss baby names etc, he'd clam up and tell me it's too early! He's probably right but it's hard not to get excited. I don't think we'll relax until we've been for the scan on Monday, so fingers crossed!
Hope you're well!! X0 -

They measure the thickness of the skin at the back of the neck, over 5mm indicates a risk of Downs, but they would offer further testing to confirm.

Nope.. Booking with mw next Tuesday and scan will be about 2 weeks after that... but I can feel baby squirming about now.

We didn't discuss names until the 2 littlies arrived.. Squeak was a week old before she had a name and Dot was 2 days but her middle name we chose in the registry office.. and no I'm not telling him until after booking next week.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi everyone,
Thought I'd give you all a quick update.
I had my midwife appointment this morning and I've been booked in for a scan a week today. Not really sure how far gone I am, either about 8 weeks or about 12 weeks.
If such thing as I'm only 8 weeks (or 9 by the time I have my scan), will they actually be able to see anything? Will I be able to take a picture away of something that actually resembles a human? Or will it just be a case of saying 'Yep, there's 'something' in there, come back in a few weeks'. It feels like an absolute age since I found out I was pregnant, and I'm worried that there isn't actually anything in there anymore. Sounds stupid I know, but it's a long wait to 12 weeks when you've found out so early. I had a couple of symptoms (sickness, SLIGHTLY sore boobs) but panicking that this could be my imagination. Ahhh roll on Monday.....

I had a scan at 7.5 weeks and I could see a baby (probably shouldn't have come out with 'it has a tail!' though)
The pictures will be better at 12 weeks but you should be able to see something.0 -
8-9 weeks you will see arms and legs and a heart and start of a brain and lots of bits.. by 9 weeks they are about as long as the width of the palm of your hand. It might not be wiggling about though which they are by 12 weeks.. the growth rate is too high for them to waste energy moving much at this stage.
If this is all you are they will do another scan about 12/13 weeks too.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Is it normal to have on/off days - sunday I couldnt move literally exhausted, weepy, painful boobs ... Today I'm just like 'normal me' running around doing errands painting the garden fence, built a new chicken run ect ect no nausea and the boobs are fine and the round ligament pain has just gone?
Now I'm worried incase something has happened? like if the symptoms stop WHY have they stopped?ww: -2.5, -4.5 lb0 -

Normal. Everyone feels like this. You feel dreadful when you do have symptoms and dreadful when you don't! Oh, the joys of early pregnancy..."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
