May I ask why they would want to do an internal examination in early pregnancy? I didn't have one last time and am sure I don't want one this time!

They were checking the size of my uterus I think. To be honest I don't really know! The first one (with speculum, which was fine) was for taking swabs for infection, the second one (with her hands!) I have no idea about - I think it was size/position of womb etc.

Today they asked if they could do swabs - I said they'd taken them on Saturday and then they checked my notes to see!!!

PP - What is wrong with these people?! Surely once you've seen one, you've seen them all!! Weirdos. No-ones getting a look until showtime!

My thoughts exactly!

On a related note, if you've not had a smear in 3 years will they advise you to get one when pregnant or wait until after the birth?

No they don't advise having them in pregnancy so you will need to wait.

I am getting the same problem, it's a lot worse at night and I can't sleep on my side! Pain but I suppose any symptoms are kind of good really, makes it feel more real!

So last wednesday my dr estimated I was 14wks, so today am I ?15 wks.

I left my details a week ago for MW to contact me and havent heard anything. I'm a bit worried ive not had any folic acid, had a course of antibiotics and been on ibuprofen foe weeks due to tennis elbow "A few studies have suggested that using ibuprofen in the first trimester slightly increases the risk of having a baby with certain birth defects" - Should I be pushing for a scan to check all is well, would they know at 15wks? argh my head and heart ache

Urine sample no#1 in to the GP to check kidney function and infection status.. oh the joy!

Andfear.. I didn't have folic acid either..and 'slightly' is the important part, they check all the major organs in detail at the 20 week scan so would pick up most things hopefully. I'd maybe give the MW another ring to see if they have allocated an appointment yet and when it is.

Weird, just had a call from the MW can i come in at 1400... spooky. Nervous and excited this is really happening OMG!!!

When does it sink in and stay in - i mean as its a shock i'm still not 100% comfortable. like me no, really me LOL no I cant have kids. Id made peace with infertility is that why i'm so shocked... I do love my seedling and am driving OH crazy but being in shock is allowed isnt it?
