My scan is the week after, on the 22nd, very exciting.

Is it usual to have the scan and then see a doctor after? My letter says that's what happens.

They like to check the pregnancy is viable before 'wasting' the obs. time.. Here they don't, they do the booking with MW and book the scan then for about 2 weeks later.. everything is @r$e about face with the health system here.. My booking isn't for aaaagggggeeees yet so I am probably looking at early March before I get a scan.. :(.

I wish there was somewhere here did private scans I'd book one of those just so I could check the dates now.

  • If I'm honest BNTM, no they've crawled by!

I thought so! I'm even glad that half a week has gone :) 5+3 today

just been watching OBEM and getting excited - I'm actually finding the babies cute once the gunk has been cleaned off :) I do like babies but I find little kid phase much cuter.

rumfeeble a water birth does sound good, one went quite smoothly on OBEM and they pretty much let mum to be do most of the work.

Man, time is going SO SLOW. I don't remember it going this slowly last time, then again the pg was not planned so I think I was just in shock the first few weeks. I keep thinking I'll be ok once I have my heartbeat scan, but I bet I worry just the same after that one, until the next scan and then the next.

I'm more of a baby person than a little kid person, I felt slightly sad as my son grew out of the baby phase, maybe that's why i decided I wanted another.
  • I think I would like my own baby more. I don't find other people's babies that attractive.

I don't think the worry will ever quite go away until baby is born healthy for me.

Oh it won't go away then.. you find other things to fret about.. you are stuck with that forever now.. even when they are grown and flown you still find things to fret about.

I really don't like other peoples children, sometimes I find it hard to like my own lol.. but I wouldn't be without them.

lol yes I remember someone saying once they're born you worry about SIDS instead!

And everything else.. every spot 'might' be meningitis, every sniffle 'might' be the bubonic plague.. are they eating enough/too much? Are they the right temperature? Should they be able to do this by now should they not... it is endless.. then you start flapping about schools and nurseries and headlice and tummy bugs and homework and high schools and college and whether there will be nuclear holocaust or a tsumani.. should we all move to the top of a mountain?.. and you won't be there to save them and gun wielding nutters and ... welcome to my insanity!!! lol

Sids I don't worry about.. mine have movement monitors on their baby monitors and I have a respisense for in the car and I am absolutely neurotic!

I always have, but then I'm like catnip to obstetricians due to my medical history, I have an unusual form of diabetes which requires special care in pregnancy. Its about the only time I get to feel special! I think if you're healthy / all goes well you can just see a midwife for most if not all of your pregnancy and no obstetrician needed?

Thanks for this. I will be under the care of the obstetrician and an endocrinologist as I have PCOS and a prolactinoma which need to be monitored throughout. I was unsure whether appointments with the obstetrician were a separate thing entirely but it looks like its all one long appointment!

    Tentatively saying hello.

Currently 6 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. First 2 were stillborn so a nerve racking experience all round but hopefully with a good outcome.

All going well I will have had 4 children within 2 years :o Lets hope my body copes ;) My youngest, Naomi is currently 5 months and hopefully about to be a big sister.

Hello Pigpen, was with you here during my first pregnancy. Hope things are going ok for you this time too. What number are you on now?

Hi, I hope you don't think this is spam, but I know some of you ladies are fans of One Born Every Minute. As some of you may know from the TTC thread, I work as an MSW in Yorkshire ;). This isn't my page (I'm not a good swimmer :o), but Jimmy's (the other maternity hospital in Leeds) are currently raising money for a birthing pool and other 'active birth' adjustments for our ladies. As a result some of the midwives are doing a sponsored swim which is the equivalent of swimming the Channel, anyone who'd like to sponsor can do so at:

    http://www.justgiving.com/Jimmys-Channel-Challange

Please don't feel obliged, I just knew some of you were local and / or fans of the show :)
