thanks for all the well wishes gang..I really do appreciate it :)

Got the inlaws here tonight and tomorrow as they are going to be picking DS up from nursery for us tomorrow as our appointment isn't until 4pm.

Whilst I am really grateful that they are here to help, I kind of wsh they weren't too. Our flat isn't really big enough, and it kind of throws all our routines out of kilter..plus they have a habit of whipping DS up into a frenzy just before bedtime..sigh.

Also, if it isn't good news tomorrow, I'd rather not have to be sociable tomorrow night.

I probably sound really ungrateful. Just kind of want my own space right now.

Best of luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

Re your in laws you sound normal not ungrateful, I would reel the exact same x x x

My understanding is - abdominal scan - full bladder, TV scan (dildocam) - empty bladder.
Not that it takes much to have a full bladder when you're pregnant!

Nope.. in fact you need a full bladder when you are NOT pregnant when you are you don't need it. And in the first trimester they only tell you to have a full bladder as it pushes the uterus higher so it is more visible to scan, but it isn't vital as the baby is in a bag of water which helps visibility. At the 20 wk scan you don't need a full bladder as compared to the uterus the bladder is tiny and in the way.

MV.. I am nervous for you lol

Yep - I found this too! At my 12 week scan - I went to the loo beforehand as I was bursting and the scan was fine despite an empty bladder - really clear.

I drank lots at my 19 week scan and was told to empty my bladder before they could scan me as my bladder was too full! LOL!

At my 23 week scan - I didn't bother to drink anything over above what I normally would - and the scan was fine.

I wouldn't listen to the full bladder thing - just drink your normal amount and you will be fine.
  • Morning gang.

Well D-Day is here!:p My appointment is at 4pm, so I still have a morning of work to get through.

Leaving round midday though...auugh can't see me getting much done this morning! Luckily most of my department are at a meeting in paris for the next 2 days, so it's quiet at least.

Fingers x'd I'll be back on later with some good news :o

Morning all...hope you are all well and not suffering first trimester troubles too much! Just hopping over from the 12-24 thread to let you girls know I saw loads of genii maternity pillows in tkmaxx yesterday, they were at £26 rather than the internet price of £46.. Would recommend it, I have one! Just gutted I didn't see it at that price! xx

Re the bladder thing, I must be the exception to the rule as I actually got sent off to have a cup of tea as mine wasn't full enough! :o But no need to worry about it too much as if it's not full enough, they'll do just that and get you to have more to drink. So probably just means a bit more waiting around, I very much doubt they'd be sending you home with no scan.

Good luck today MV, and everyone else with scans coming up :)

  • Thanks BB.

Just been reading up, and my hospital will be doing the nuchal and blood tests today too, and give you the Downs risk the same day, so double squeaky-bum time for us!

Apparently you can also expect to be at the hospital for hours as they are usually running behind time.

Just as well the inlaws are down really, looks like they will be picking DS up from nursery, giving him dinner and might be doing his bath and bed!

I don't do 'waiting for hours' they have 30 minutes from my appointment time or I leave.. and they know I do lol.. I had them call me one time 3 hours after my appt and ask why I had not turned up.. I said I did, I waited 45 minutes and when you took in the third person who came after me (and gave their name so they knew I had been there) I left because if I am not important enough to be seen at my alloted time you are not important enough to wait for.

I sound a right cow don't I? lol.. I'm not I just get annoyed that they think it is ok to keep you waiting around but if you turn up late they refuse to see you.. yet they are providing the service for you not the other way around.. Part of their God complex!
