MV .. I am looking forward to some of this bloat going I look huge at the moment .. sitting here in my maternity jeans and huge floaty top..

I've succumbed to the hairband around the trouser button trick today. :) I'm much more comfortable as I sit down for lots of the day.

    Morning ladies!

Welcome to all the newcomers - congrats!!! :j

I am so sick of being bloated! I'm eating sooooo healthily, obviously not drinking (although mw said I could?! - I don't think she's see my 'glasses' of wine lol!) and doing well with walking. WHY AM I THE SIZE OF A SMALL PLANET?!
What is it - is it water? Gas? Food? Fat? It isn't baby at 6+0!!!

    Anyway, just thought I'd rant!

PP - I like Delilah - we're thinking of Lyla for a girl.

Isn't it gas? I've calmed down a bit but still not 'normal'

Plus healthy eating normally gives you gas - its all the extra fibre from fruit & veg!

  • Hi Ladies,

Although I visit this website regularly, for all manner of things, this is the first time I have posted anything :). As I'm so early on in my pregnancy, and therefore haven't told too many people, I would really appreciate having someone to talk to!

First question- I did a ClearBlue pregnancy test a few weeks ago which confirmed the pregnancy (yay!) and also gave an indication on when we conceived (2-3 weeks, which made me approx 4-5 weeks pregnant at the time- I think!). Anyway, so based on that calculation, I'm currently 7-8 weeks pregnant and I have my first (8 week appointment) with the midwife on the 18th February (eek!). Anyway, although the test indicates that I'm 7-8 weeks pregnant, I haven't actually had a period since the 26th November, which if I'm going off that, I'm actually 10plus weeks pregnant. Anyway, my question is, how will the midwife know how far along I am when I see her for my '8 week' appointment? Or will I have to wait for my 12 week scan? I guess it'd be a good thing if I turned up to my 12 week scan and found out that I was actually further along than that, but keeping this pregnancy a secret isn't nice, especially when I've got morning sickness and feeling awful :(

That brings me to my second question, any tips on helping morning sickness? I've been sick the past four mornings (sorry, too much info) and feel sick all day. I can't remember the last time I properly enjoyed a meal!

Anyway, sorry for the rambly message! I tried speaking to a midwife (over the phone) at my local hospital, as advised by my GP, and the lady I spoke to was SO UNHELPFUL. I'm scared to ring again, haha!!!

Thank you ladies, I look forward to hearing from you.

    X
  • Me again!

It's just occured to me that I should probably introduce myself a little. Umm, I'm 26 (27 in April) and I've been with my boyfriend for 10 years in October (yep- no ring yet! :()and we've been trying to conceive since late Summer 2012. At Christmas, as nothing had happend (or so we thought!), we decided to put baby making on hold so I could take a new job, book a holiday, relax etc etc and BINGO, I'm pregnant!

I'd love to hear a little bit about you all :).

Welcome Special.. I am pretty much the same as you.. either 10+3 (28/11) or 6+3 (christmas day!).. I'm thinking the former but the midwife and scan are based on the latter so I may well be 16 weeks by the time I get a dating scan.. too late for the nuchal scan but hey ho.. I was on the pill though so AF has been a little erratic at best.

Anyway.. I have got a digital test.. which I intend handing to OH at some point over the weekend when the older children aren't here (it worked the first time :p) saves telling him with words which I am struggling to say.

nausea.. try ginger bickies before you get out of bed.. and make sure you eat small regular meals, you feel much better when your stomach is not empty.

  • Congrats and welcome Lobey and SpecialK!

Booked an appointment with the midwife today, for 27th Feb when I should be around 8-9 weeks. My GP was really lovely - I'd already got an appointment booked to get the results of some blood tests and originally to look at my irregular periods. Result was some possible thyroid issues so they will monitor that.

OH is going to tell his mother today and I'll tell mine tomorrow. Mine will start knitting straight away, she asks me pretty much every time she phones if I'm pregnant yet. There's a part of me that's still a bit wary of something going wrong but at the same time I want to enjoy this as much as I can.

Taking a tentative step into this thread. Just got a BFP on Wednesday. Think i am about 4+2, so a long way to go yet.

On the talk of holidays I am really panicking as I am going on a girly holiday to new york at the start of march when i will be about 8 weeks. Praying morning sickness doesn't hit with a vengeance :( xx
