Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! 2

Nine tests is only two more than my seven! It hasn't really sunk in yet as the lines were very faint but the exhaustion over the past few weeks can be explained now!
I have a bit of a dilemma, me and OH had paid a deposit for a beach holiday at the end of April and the balance is due at the end of feb. do you think it's a 'safe' time to go? I think I would be about 15 weeks so hope the chances of miscarrying would be lower if I hadn't had one already. Just a bit worried because it will be a 10 hour flight and v.hot weather when we get there. Wondering whether it may be best to scrap the deposit and stay local, or to take the opportunity as our last couples holiday for the foreseeable future. Any thoughts appreciated!0 -
tests I think I did about 50 with my last one.. sometimes 3 a day .. such was the level of my horror! I've done about 15 this time.. so you can do more without feeling a freak

I'd go for it! You're unlikely to be able to go as far for a while until the baby is old enough, so enjoy it while you can! You'll be 15 weeks so not really very big, I doubt you'll be too uncomfortable0 -
morning all
congratulations lobey!
the few people I have spoken to say the nausea & fatigue start in the 6th week so I am dreading the next week! I spoke to someone who was 14 weeks last night and she said initially she was thinking it was great that she had no symptoms then week 6 changed all that!
She also said that she paid £80 for a private scan at 9 weeks to rest her mind as she had known a few friends discover something very wrong at the 12 week scan. So I am definitely considering a private scan now, OH can pay!0 -
Lobey, I'm going to a hot country when I'll be between 13 and 15 weeks. Will be back at beginning of march and will let you know how it goes. My worries aren't about the heat but potential diseases. My GP said they don't recommend travel vaccinations for pregnant women so I'm going to be very careful what I eat and drink and protect myself from mosquitoes. The worst of my nausea and tiredness seems to have passed so I hope to be able to enjoy myself!
Does anyone have any opinions on use of DEET when pregnant?0 -
I'm going to be going to Menorca in June which will be mid to high 90's when I'm 31 weeks! I must be insane, but it's a cheap holiday as the villa we are staying in belongs to friends of OH's parents and they are paying for it. We only had to shell out for flights and I don't want DS to miss out on a holiday this year as we may not get away next year.
I think I'm going to be severely limited in what I can do whilst there though, I intend to keep the sun lounger and swimming pool company whilst everyone else entertains DS
Oh and I've done tons of tests and got pics of them all.
The thrill of POAS never quite leaves you....Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

I am thinking of doing this too. I've heard that if all is well at 9 weeks the chances of anything going wrong after that are the same as at 12 weeks. It means I will have three weeks less wait to go public! Although my scan earlier this week was good in some ways, because it revealed a foetal pole and ruled out some of the 'nasties', there's still a way to go before I will really feel reassured so I'm not sure it's made me worry much less to be honest. I don't think I've ever worried so much in my life! Keep telling myself that in the grand scheme of things it'll all work out, but I'll feel glad when I'm on the other side of these early vulnerable weeks I tell you!
My mum was saying that in her day no one worried about m/c (maybe because women mainly got pregnant a lot younger) and she just assumed when she got pregnant that she'd end up with a baby nine months later. She had three pregnancies without a hitch, and with diabetes too which in those days was harder to control, so she must have been lucky!0 -
Welcome and congrats Lobey, and good luck to all those having scans!
AFM, my maternity trousers arrived yesterday and are a bit big - my bloating hasn't been quite so bad since I got them on Ebay, typical! Especially as most of my other trousers are still too tight and digging in at me, grr. Still feeling sick most of the time, trying to eat smaller meals throughout the day and healthy snacks, but is a big change for me so it's hard - normally I have breakfast, lunch and dinner with the odd biscuit or mini choccie bar thrown in!
Time is dragging soooo slowly, I can't wait until I go for my 12 week scan. I wish I could afford an early scan, I know they are only about £100 but money is just too tight at the moment. Perhaps if OH's car sells at the weekend I could persuade him to pay for one lol.
Ended up telling one of my workmates this week I'm pregnant, our boss is away this week (and she's been doing all the heavy lifting for me), so I had to ask someone else to do it and she guessed why - not too difficult I suppose when you combine that with me having late starts (coz of morning sickness), being knackered and not doing any lifting. And I think another friend has guessed, though hasn't said anything. Me and DH were at hers for dinner this week, and I hardly touched it (felt v bad), then we ended up watching OBEM and I was nearly crying throughout all of it! So I don't think she'll be surprised when I do tell her!
Hope everyone has a fab weekend!0 -

Just popping in from the next thread to say don't forget you have a higher risk of DVT when pregnant, so make sure you move around as much as you can during the flight and it might be a good idea to wear flight socks.
Other than that - go for it! It'll be a good few years before you get another chance to spend a lazy holiday lying on the beach. I went to Italy at 25/26 weeks the last time I was pregnant and they were having a heatwave when we got there - mid-high 30's every day and 40 degrees on the day we visited Venice. I just made sure not to let myself overheat and to stay well hydrated and I was fine.
And congratulationsAnd to all the other recent graduates too
Hope to see you all over on the "big girls" threads soon.
Good luck for your scan next week MV, I'll be stalking for newsYou can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0
