ani - that's annoying. Honestly you'd think people would respect that it's your news to share when you are ready!
I've only told the girl I work with (who is also a friend) and our boss as I need time off for appointments, but they have said I don't even have to notify HR until after my 12 week scan, which I am pleased about.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
If your pretty sure your mc should you ring the Dr, or just get on with it? Only 5/6 weeks, so don't want them thinking I'm silly. Previously had 1 mc, and 1 threatened mc, so I kind of want it on record so they can see my history.:j - DS - 7

Just had a call from the MW who said I have one, and need to see my GP next week to get antibiotics for it.
She also said I need to drink more water, which is just making me run to the loo even more. I swear people at work here think I'm mad.
I haven't had one in early pregnancy before, but I have had LOADS in the past as I have some wonky tubing between my bladder & kidney.
If you have no signs - ie frequent urination (obv harder to judge this one in pregnancy - but needing a wee urgently (thinking yr gonna pee yourself) or getting to the loo and a teeny dribble coming out when you thought you were desperate is what I mean) and pain/burning sensation while urinating, then its probably not a very bad infection and can usually be kept at bay from just drinking more and you won't need the antibiotics.
People at work probs haven't noticed to be honest. I don't think anyone here would pay a tiny bit of notice to my loo habits.
I've just had to think up my first excuse for why I wouldn't be drinking on fri night. I can see this getting a bit silly after a while - but not keen on everyone knowing just at the minute with it being >such< early days.
Wow - pigpen are you booked in with the midwives now then?
An9i - I would be mightily miffed at that too, and would be sending an email back to confirm that it wasn't common knowledge yet.
Amus - I don't know what we will do about telling people eitherI keep wondering about this. We told DD last time at 7weeks or so as my sickness was so bad as was my tiredness that she would have been really concerned about me and obv I thought that was a good sign that all was healthy. We then told family & some close friends, and found out at the scan about the mmc. It was definately good to have the support of some people - but other people just didn't know what to say or do - which then made it awkward.
I still would like DD to be one of the first to know - but this time will be waiting for a successful scan before telling her. So far just DH and you guys know and I defo think we will keep it that way for a little while yet and just play it by ear.Married my lobster in July 2011

I think if it were me I would go to EPU and try and get a scan/be seen - that way it is on record and they also will check you over. Sometimes you can have bleeding and not miscarry - fingers crossed it all works out ok for you xxMarried my lobster in July 2011

Thanks, i think i'll give them a call this afternoon. I just hate all the prodding! I've only had a bit of pink, but strong AF cramps for 24hrs+ :-(
The 3 mc in a row rule, will it not count that the the 2nd 'threatened mc' was my body trying to mc for 2 months, but my little fighter managed to hold on?
At least I know there is such a thing as a threatened mc, when you have all the symptoms, even the scan says you are in the process of, but that little heartbeat keeps going and going until one scan they say 'it all looks good, nothing to worry about now!':j - DS - 7

I don't know how it would work in your area to be honest. Cramps can be a sign of stretching ligaments in your womb making space for the baby. I think the best thing to do is to try and get to EPU and we'll all keep our fingers crossed that you have another little fighter in there
xx

I had to tell my boss as due to my diabetes my blood sugars will go all funny now and may affect me when I drive as I travel about in this job - this is his boss so I expect he felt he had to tell her if it may affect work.
Just was a bit suprised to get an email from her saying congrats! Feels like you're tempting fate when that happens. I did reply saying I would not go public for a while, she's the head of HR so I'm sure she's used to keeping secrets.
Just want to hurry up and get through the vulnerable weeks now!0 -

I had severe cramps in my first pg at 5 weeks and was convinced I was miscarrying. Luckily I was getting scanned the next day so they reassured me all was well and it was just the ligaments stretching. I really did think it was game over though, they were as strong as strong period pains.
So cramps even strong ones doesn't necessary mean much.0 -

Legally, you don't have to notify your employer until around week 25 but of course by then most people are showing! There are certain advantages to telling them though - paid time off for any antenatal appointments, if you go off sick and it's pregnancy related they can't take disciplinary action and - my personal favourite - a legal entitlement to rest breaks wheneer you feel the need! I used this one a lot in my first pg when I had morning sickness - I used to go and lie down in the back of my car with a little pillow and blanket until it passed.0 -
Hi all can I join please, I've just found out I'm expecting again, not a planned pregnancy as I already have a 16 month old and a 7 year old but now the shock has worn off we are all very happy
I'm about 7 weeks and as with my other 2 I'm having severe sickness, I feel awfulI've had to ring work and tell them I'm not in tonight I can hardly get off the settee never mind work. Anyways moan over I'm sure there are other ladies on here who feel just the same xx
